Great batter..served pretty good for Aus..Good luck for career change...five innings in single digit was sure a call for that..but making him captain in previous ODI was a mistake itself...

probably CA's way of saying good bye to him...give him couple of matches to lead the side before saying tata

The selectors can't keep Watson out for Ponting for sure.I wish Indian selectors take the courage to drop Sachin for Tiwari who is rotting in dressing room.

i couldn't agree more. Ponting is better player than sachin given the roles he played as captaining and batting at no.3 and scoring runs on par with Sachin. I am not sure whether Sachin could have achieved what he is now, if he was captaining the Indian side.
Ricky should have retired earlier by himself, he had a legendary career, won two WC's for his country, he should have bowed down in grace to save some pride.
Same thing is going to happen to Sachin. I'm an ardent Sachin fan, but now its time for him to go.
Ricky Pointing was given enough time but he was adament to retire. He was given two ODI to Captain and then sudden removal from ODI.
We public believe that Sachin, Bombay Commentators and media has understood of this ploy and now urge Sachin to score his milestone of 100th ton and may ask him to retire from all formats.

Anyway, Ponting has a mixed bag from his last ODI. He flopped as batsman, but won as a captain.
The way he planned dismissals Tendulkar and Dhoni was terrific. The way he was planning ball per ball in the match, made sure his team was always on Top in the match.
