Why so much noice about Sachin being rested in their rotation policy. They have rested sehwag and Gambir alrady so what's wrong if Sachin is rested.Why so much hue and cry about him. Is it his because of 100th century that keeps cricket experts including Gavaskar harping that Sachin should not be rested.
it only reaffirms my argument that sachin scores well when our bowlers restrict opposition to 180-240 runs where we would have won even if he had not made centuries. just take a look at his scores when our target is between 280-320 runs. at such times sachin more often than not fails. even when we get to bat first on flat track his big scores have come like 200 not out etc. but if on the same track we have to chase 300 plus scores rarely has sachin contributed well. Besides his overall average in odi is 45 runs and in aus it goes down by nearly 10 runs...his overall strike rate is around 85 runs per 100 balls which also goes down to 74 runs... a few months ago rediff had published a list of 10 odis where we won chasing succesfully making 300 or more runs. i checked sachin stats and found that he made a little more than 180 in 6 of those 10 odis with an average of slightly over 30 runs with 1 score of 50 (94 runs) inspite of his scoring at an average of a little over 30 we won those 6 matches, besides we have won others also even though he did not play in them.

Sunil, You are a Ghajini. You had a problem of short term memory.
Sachin's 175 vs Australia is the Highest Individual Score, when chasing a big Total for India. Might be the Highest Individual Score when chasing a target more than 400.

stockstalks you are dozens of times ghajini...
the target was 350 not 400. and it has happened ONCE only. And he did not take india home to win. he knew only 3 wickets were left and about 20 runs to get in 3 overs. he did not finish things off.
i have never denied that it was one of his rare innings he played well under pressure. 10 out of 10 for once to him. but did he finish it off. coming so near he had no business to get out and put indian prospects in danger...0 out of 10 for finishing...

He had Played 236 matches so far, when India Fielded First ( Means India has to chase ).
Total Runs: 8575 : Avg: 42.87 : Centuries:17.
Your Boss Dhoni dont have even half of Sachin's Centuries when India chased.
Out of his 17 Centuries when India chased, India won 14 Times (82%).
That means, Your Boos Dhoni's Total Centuries' Twice Time Sachin Helped india to win when chasing.
Not Just Dhoni. There is only very few Batsmen in the history of Indian Cricket having more than 14 Centuries (Only counted Sachin's centuries came when india won and also that was a chase) in ODI.
Still people like you (short term memory ), writing he is not good when chasing.
If you want to counter me, Just show some 14 Instance any other India player had helped India to win when chasing (The score should be highest for Indian in that Innings ).

stockstalks, sachin batted low down the order in his first 65-70 odd odis...in that position forget abroad he could not hit a century even in india...ZERO centuries before he started to open the innings...dhoni bats even low down the order than sachin used to in his first 65-70 odd odis...
ask sachin to bat at dhoni's position and lets us see if he can get as many centuries, total no. of runs, mom and mos...forget 99 centuries at dhoni's batting position he would have struggled to score ONE cenutry in 400 innings...
you are silly and dont understand cricket if you expect dhoni to make as many centuries at his batting position that an opener makes...

and even batting so down the order most of the times dhoni has scored more than 6000 runs in LESS no. of innings than sachin who mostly batted at the opening position...
dhoni is known to save india from difficult positions and help them win while sachin is recognised as a flat track bully who scores runs in easy conditions and fails miserably in pressure situations...and this has been the story for MORE than 2 decades...

Those days in his intial 70 odis he used to come down the order and mainly he got the chance of batting only after 40th over. In the slog overs he had to score runs right from the beginning. Here what we are trying to tell you is Sachin's contribution was always there in winning causes

look at those stats carefully and try to understand its meaning if you can...only 5 matches won when sachin played in 42 matches...what about the rest 37 matches that we lost/not completed? how well did he do in them? the first win as you can see from the article sachin made 36 from 65 balls while current selector srikkanth was really the one who showed the way with 60 runs of 60 balls... the second win he made 86 runs of 95 balls and we made over 300 runs. I have not checked the score card but I bet we batted first while making those 300 runs. If we had to chase a target of 300 runs it is difficult to see sachin making a good score under pressure. the third win as you can see when our bowlers had restricted aussies to 158 runs. the fourth win came when we successfully chased 240 runs a modest target, just the sort of the target sachin usually hit his patent centuries. our bowlers had already bowled us into a commanding position and sachin took full advantage (of being the opener and the modest target). btw rohit sharma made 66 runs in this match. also fyi in the league stage of this tri-series sachin had scored miserably making 190 odd runs in 8 innings with an average of around 23-24 runs. still we made it to the finals thanks to the batting of dhoni, yuvraj, gambhir and rohit sharma. the fifth win came when he made good score and it was our bowlers bowled very well to win the match with praveen kumar being MOM.
