Sachin is an opening batsman and Dhoni is lower order batsman. You can ask any cricketer and he will say that opening is the most toughest job in cricket. It is because the new ball seams and swings a lot and also the bowlers are fresh and bowl much faster. Opening an innings is not the cup of tea for small hearted & selfish players like Dhoni who lack technique & courage to open.

This is for ODI. And in tests there is no comparison between Sachin and overhyped Dhoni. Dhoni will not be able to even do 1/10th of what Sachin has done for India in tests.

deshbhakth hindu, it is not true that dhoni never batted in the top 5 positions where batting is most difficult,,,perhaps you may not be aware of it but dhoni has batted in odis in positions 2 to 5 in 82 innings in odis out of his 188 innings so far...and here are his stats in those positions which should be eye opener for you and your ignorance---
82 matches 82 innings 21 not out 3874 runs average 63.50 6-100s 25-50s
so please see where your hero sachin stands vis-a-vis dhoni

nd if we cut dhoni's 46 odi innings at no 5 and see only his performance at no. 2 3 and 4 his stats read 36 matches 36 innings 9 not out 2001 runs average 74.11 3 100s and 16 50s

It is not like lower order batsmen who come out when the ball is old and smash tired bowlers and tired fielders.

when sehwag was captain he had opened along with dhoni in a odi...indian team got allout on 200 runs and dhoni made 90 plus...
When Sachin used to score and rest use to get out cheaply... that time everyone used to called Sachin as selfish.... Is the same rule will be apply for Dhoni ... Sachin was truly a positive wave in Indian Team ... He should be part of Indian Team with some or other responsibilites.

Mr. First Class Jayanta Ray, according to statistics available from cricinfo, Ganguly scored 2752 of his total 11363 runs (i.e. about 25 percent) in ODIs against Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and other non test playing countries. He was supposed to be the king of the off side, most of the time opened the innings.
On the contrary, Dhoni bats at 5 or 6 or 7 most of the time and only occasionally bats at No.3 or 4. He has scored only 652 of his 7021 ODI runs against countries like Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and other non test playing countries.
I do not say that Dhoni is a class batsman or technically correct, but as a lover of the game and the country, would like Dhoni to be respected for his ATTITUDE of giving MORE THAN 100 per cent whenever he plays for the country.

Dhoni is far better than ganguly!!!Ganguly is good cricketer but dhoni also good cricketer.If u say ganguly scored 7000 runs fast than others , look at against which teams he performed and dhoni always performed under pressure.And Third class sport person like Jayanta Roy should not comment bad on profesional cricketers

There is similarity between Ganguli and Gambhir. Ganguli played in the same way when Sachin was the captain to get the Indian charge.

Remove Gambhir and Sehwag permanently from the team. The team will become a good team.
The Indian Team is playing below par and the question in our mind is that why the team (with more or less the same nucleus) which won the World Cup 2011 is failing. The answer to me, a cricket fan is that: 1. Viru and Gauti in their present form do not deserve a place in the team 2. Persistant place for non performing Rohit Sharma- whereas Manoj Tewari and the like being consistently ignored 3. Complete lack of bowling match winners. Our part timers are now been tested more as the prime bowlers are struggling. 4. Lack of a genuine all rounder.
The search for all these may take time, however, at least some changes are required for this Indian team and that too fast.
