May be Tendulkar did not want to play against Pakistan and did not want to say so openly and embarass the UPA Govt, as he has become an MP.

You guys are funny. For your information during 2001-2012 Sachin, sehwag ,Dravid and VVS scored almost equal number of runs in almost equal number of tests and aroung 46-48 runs per innings.Check the statistics. They were supported by Ganguly for the first half and by Dhoni in the second half of that period almost at the same rate. Still you feel Sachin is the ONLY contributer? This is not for the sake of degrading somebody who made CRICKET rich with his batting but to remind that others also done almost the same.Do respect everybody who contributed for the team.time has come to Sachin to play his last few test matches and bid adieu.Let us wish him a good series against Australia and end his carer on a high note. After that He may not have such chance as he will cross 40 years and it will be hard to be in shape for next season after the long break.Hope he utilizes this opportunity and sign off on a high.

Trying to go out on a high in Tests
by A Rajendran on Dec 25, 2012 07:17 PM

May be he realized that continuing in both the formats was not possible. Much as he wishes to continue, his body has slowed down and it is not a simple case of mind-over-matter. At least he goes out on a high in ODIs, with his last match ending in a half century. Perhaps he wants to end the Tests on a high too. Let us hope he succeeds. May be he is getting old, but Gavaskar retired on 38 and Greenidge on 40.
