Failures are part of every Life but one should have will to accept the failures & learn lesson. Therefore Mr.Dhoni should also share Major part of failure being Captian. Wishing Good Senses for Dhoni.

If Kohli hadn't scored the century, he might have lost his own place in the test team.

dhoni's captaincy
by RAMANAND GOPALAKRISHNAN on Dec 17, 2012 10:31 PM  | Hide replies

AGREED INDIA HAS DONE QUITE BADLY IN THIS SERIES AGAINST ENGLAND. INDIA ALSO DID POORLY IN ENGLAND AND AUSTRALIA. BUT REMOVING THE CAPTAIN IS NO SOLUTION FOR THIS. IF U START REMOVING CAPTAINS FROM EVERY SERIES DEFEAT THE TEAM WILL BE FULL OF PAST AND PRESENT CAPTAINS.AGREED DHONI'S CAPTAINCY WAS NOT UP TO THE MARK RECENTLY BUT THE TIME IS NOT RIGHT TO REMOVE HIM. WHO IS THE REPLACEMENT FOR DHONI. THE ENTIRE TEAM INDIA HAS DONE QUITE BADLY APART FROM PUJARA. SO WHOM DO WE MAKE AS A CAPTAIN. SEHWAG, GAMBHIR ARE TOTALLY BAD OUT OF FORM IN THE RECENT MONTHS. KOHLI IS TOO YOUNG . HE IS JUST GROOMING INTO A FINE CRICKETER. SO THRUSTING THE HEAVY RESPONSIBILITY ON HIS YOUNG SHOULDERS IS JUST ASKINF FOR TOO MUCH.WHAT IF THE TEAM DOES BADLY UNDER KOHLI. REMOVE KOHLI AFTER ONE SERIES. NOW IS THE TIME TO GROOM KOHLI. FIRST HE SHOULD BE THE VICE CAPTAIN UNDER DHONI. MAY BE AFTER A YEAR OR WO MAKE HIM THE CAPTAIN. BY THAT TIME HE WOOULD HAVEW MATURED AND SETTLED INTO A GREAT CRICKETER. SO DHONI SHOULD CONTINUE AS A CAPTAIN FOR THE TIME BEING.

If you think that way there is no end. When Dhoni was made Captain, he had no prior experience leading any side. Dhoni did well because he was not arrogant at that time. So do not think anybody else can not do better!

So who’s the new captain? Virat Kohli will be an exciting choice. South Africa went for Graeme Smith when he was 22 and he has served them well. India’s Test team needs fresh blood and fresh ideas. And Kohli seems to have these qualities that India is looking for.
Transition is tricky business. Transition also takes time. As the baton passes on from one generation to another, the Indian cricket fan needs to be patient. There may or may not be a pot of gold at the end of it all. But there’s no other way. And there’s no harm in thinking brave and radical

You have good justification, but do you think Dhoni can be selected into the team automatically? Why did he not take Dinda in the third and fourth Tests? Dinda has performed in domestic cricket, where as Ishan failed in last over a year. I personally like Ishan's bowling, but team comes first. We have seen Dhoni's keeping is also very poor. Why our old keepers are not saying anything as they did in case of Patel , Deep Dasgupta etc.

You are correct Mr.Arun Gupta! I was surprised why nobody pointed out his mistakes as a wicket keeper. They used to jump on errors of earlier wicket keepers. A good keeper should be behind the stumps for collecting throws, but he is hardly in position whenever dozens of such situations happened and batsmen escaped. Apart from that legside gathering is also so poor, but nobody will open mouth. He has not shown any confidence in youngsters. Sometimes people like Dinda may prove to be the trump cards as there was a surprise element.

Dhoni, buddy what have you contributed in first three games? with bat and brain?
Yes the seniors did not perform, so did our bowlers - we are having serious problem with bowling department, I don't see class bowler who can terrify the opposition, these bowlers are very ordinary, they play in this condition day and night but still... I don't see the hunger of getting wickets, they don't even stick to basics like when the pitch in not turning you should bowl wicket to wicket with variation in pace and bounce - whole bunch of idiots... Kumble was not great turner of the ball but he was very intelligent... I would rate India's bowling attack below Bangladesh OR Zimbabve

This deterioration is mostly due to IPL! Earlier we had quality spinners emerging out of nowhere who did not rely on the surface. Even those who did not play Tests or played just a few Tests performed well under all conditions. Then came doctored pitches or tailor made pitches and the next generation were champions at least in those conditions. The present generation is spoilt by IPL. Players like Ashwin are more comfortable bowling Leg-Middle line to restrict runs in Tests. They have to get used to bowling long spells in domestic cricket which is the only way to perform better in Tests.

Captain should take responsibility first!!
by avishek on Dec 17, 2012 10:16 PM

Dhoni talks about Gambhir being selfish but he himself is the biggest selfish player in the team. A captain should be the first one to take responsibility for defeat but instead of that he is deflecting the blame. By sticking to captaincy with the blessing of Srini he is only adding to his negative publicity. Both Dhoni and Sachin and their sponsors should remember that such move will only reduce their brand value

Why is Dhoni escaping .....
by Manu Nair on Dec 17, 2012 10:12 PM

Dhoni should also take the blame on himself as it's the Captain who leads his team taking his team into confidence with him. He should indeed take some lessons from the young Alistar Cook who had done tremendously well as the new England Captain though no one in England also thought he could do well. He had fought well within his limitations. Dhoni needs to be dropped for atleast some time. Many are taking the T20 route including himself. The BCCI should take strict action against these players and rest them for T20 matches against Pakistan- are they really brave enough to do so...??
