even after 22 years of int cricket he continues to inspire so many youngsters. Also if people say he should retire then it is as illogical as asking everyone in the Indian team to retire and promoting the under 19 team to play senior cricket. bottomline: No reason for anyone to retire if he is playing well inspite of his age.

Also remember that coz of this "giving chance to youngsters policy", Greg Chappel forced Robin Singh, who was such a great allrounder and the best fielder of the side, to retire despite his performance being top class

Robin Singh took retirement much before Chappell became coach. Don't use false statement to demean one person(Greg Chappell). I belive he did the right thing for Indian cricket by ousting Saurav from the scene. Saurav was a great player till the time he becomes Captain. Once he becomes captain, he thought himself a king. Saurav had hid 16/17 hundreds by 2000 in ODI. After that he made 5 more hundred. I clearly remember out of this 5, 3 are in WC 2003(2 against Kenya & 1 against Nambia). Once he stripped out of captainship, he started to perform well. But due to his egoness he thought stripping out of captainship is a loss of his self-respect. So he retired.

Learn from Unmukt Chand - A Champ in making after Virat Kohli.
by Santhanam on Aug 30, 2012 01:13 PM  | Hide replies

Selfish cricketer Sachin shud learn from 19 year old Unmukt Chand of delivering goods when it matters. 19 yr old Unmukt has hit 111 in a World cup final & Sachin inspite of his so-called personal records has always failed to deliver when Team reqd his contribution the most. Meaningless Humdreds dont count. All the world cup Semifinals, Finals Sachin has failed & left the Team in difficult situation to Tackle. Hope this mean Cricketer who always play for Personal Records retires soon and does a big favour to this Nation. Talented youngsters like Unmukt Chand are waiting in the wings..

Moron, who was the MOM in the 2011 WC semi final? Who scored 86 in the 2011 WC semi final? Who scored 67 in the 1996 WC semi final?

Yes you are right, all the players should play only at crucial juncture like semi-final and final. Who will play in the leagues to qualify for semi-final & final.

sachin keep continuing till your son makes his debut and you can handover your bat to him and then retire and we are in no hurry and our selectors dont have the guts to even think of dropping you no matter how bad you play...so just keep continuing

Sachin said he will play cricket until he does not enjoy it. Suppose he will enjoy the game upto the age of 50 of 60 years then what will happen? The other cricketers from his era are retiring one by one, does it mean they are not enjoying cricket anymore?

retire
by Ram Alegavi on Aug 30, 2012 01:03 PM

if sachin loves the game so much he shud retire and become an umpire like venkat raghavan did so that he can still spend time in the middle. That seems to be the best solution to keep everyone happy
