The author wrote, "Dravid and Laxman knew this very well and announced their retirements at the right time, unlike certain sports persons, who seem to want to continue playing till eternity even if they may have started proving liabilities for their teams time and again."
By writing that he has directly or indirectly hinted at Tendulkar that he is liable to become a liability soon and it is better to retire when he has reached the summit rather than waiting for a free downfall.

just sachin wants to create a history, that, no one can touch his number of match played, test or one day, that is his idea.

guys remember this is newzealand , it will be not easy against austrailia or england dravid & laxman will be felt there
It is too premature to judge the capability of these two batsmen against the best attacks in the world and that too outside India.
It's true they have the temperament and technique but let the media allow them to take on the mantle left behind by those greats. Comparing them to these stalwarts will unnecessarily put them under mental pressure. They are good finds and should be nurtured and mentored to lead the Indian attacks in the years to come. Congratulations to both.
Please Stop comparisons. With one Match they cannot become Greats. In India, Ashwin also got Century so will he become Like Dravid or Laxman. That too The playing conditions suits India more than New Zealand. The Bowling of Newzealand is Mediocre. When they go to South Africa in Nov 2013, that series will show whether they are replacements or ointments
It is very early to say about Pujara. Give him some more chance in overseas. He has potential and can do it. But Kohli has proved it starting from Australia.
why the electronic media always writes about cricket? it is as if there are no other games than cricket in India. Our recent performance in 2012 London Olympics was very good despite electronic media covers every minute detail regarding cricket but not of any other game. Not even of Hockey. Why this bias for reporting? if media itself remains bias then how will public awareness regarding other games will come? it appears to me that because so much money is involved in cricket & so much betting is done illegally on cricket media is mad about cricket otherwise now public demand is other games too....There are many sports where Indians are performing well. Dear rediff try to cover those things also instead of boring cricket...people are tired of hearing about cricket.....please cover other games also....
It is to early to say whether Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara will go the distance that Dravid and Tendulkar did. There is a need for discipline and also a fighting spirit to fathom failures. Further, playing tournaments like IPL etc will take a toll on technique. Also the glitterati of showbiz and advertisement world will slow down and distract these guys. They may atmost last till the end of this decade if not lesser
