England good only at home
by A Rajendran on Aug 21, 2012 09:11 PM

The dream was too good to be true. They beat India and West Indies at home and lost abroad to South Africa and Pakistan. They have also looked in poor form in ODIs. They certainly didn't deserve the No.1 status. SA are good and I think that they will retain this spot for at least an year. This is the way it should be, with teams taking turns to be at the No.1 spot.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR CONTRIBUTION AGAINST GOOD SIDES RECENT PAST -Openers were consistently inconsistent ,adding pressure to the team .Please remember it is not Indian eleven which caves in often .AS a captain you were like Dhoni in Autrlai and England ,KP got kicked out because he questioned your place is it ?

POOR ENGLAND
by Pratik shah on Aug 21, 2012 04:35 PM

congo to SA ;but an over hyped team lost to a well desrved team. eng was compared to aussie team and a mighty west indian team by the journalist and former england players.despite having poor overaeas record.u can say now humpty dumpty(england) sat on a wall.humpty dumpty had had a great fall All the kings horses (media) and all the kings men could not put together humpty again

This is the worst no 1 team in history even worse than India, who anyhow managed to No 1 for 22 months.

Look at there batting. Strauss, Cook, Bell and Taylor got in the 2nd innings … 12 runs. Put in a donke..y with a table-tennis bat and it would have managed that. Top batsmen were in a no 1 team is a sad reflection of the current quality of test cricket.
The worst no 1 team. I mean the former No 1.

by Raghunandan V on Aug 21, 2012 04:27 PM

No body is blaming England for having got to rank 1 in test by playing weaker oppotions and on home soil???? (like they were when India were unceremoniously removed as Rank 1 by England trip?)

Home condition
by undo hazare on Aug 21, 2012 03:46 PM

All present teams are only good enough to win a series in home pitch conditions or in conditions similar.
South Africa beating England in England is like India beatng Srilanka in Srilanka. Whats the big deal?
South Africa should challenge India, Srilanka, Pakistan in their home conditions.
India's best away tour was of South Africa and West Indies. When injuries came in India wilted tamely in England and Australia. Now South Africa beats England who beat Australia and Indian people are making all the unnecessary noise of no.1.

England are tired, hapless & have a depressing attitude now after the beating they got against S.Africa who have also snatched the Number 1 Crown from them in their own backyard. What an Apt time for India to invite them for a 4 match revenge Series in Oct. Good-luck India.

Thanx to Pietersen!!!!
by Santhanam on Aug 21, 2012 02:50 PM

Hope Kevin Pietersen continues to have his share of problems with the English board so that he won't board the flight to India in October. India can meanwhile wish for a 4-0 whitewash over hapless England team who will in all certainty travel to India without Pietersen thanx to their Ego-tussle.
