Tendulkar
by Narayanan on Aug 19, 2012 09:22 PM  | Hide replies

I think Tendulkar should also retire. Any way that depends if the selectors have the guts to just ask him to retire, they won't have the guts to drop him. He is now a Rajya Sabha member and has said he will devote to improve infrasturcte etc. for other sports. Look how our once famours hockey team has fared. The dribbling skills of Ajipal Singh, Aslam Sher Khan, and others are not there now. He will get a salary and pension and other perks as a RS Member.

Dhoni also should retire... as any how he earned crores of rupees and a army major post... in a couple of years he may also become MP or minister... he too should give chance to youngsters...

by Gulzara Azad on Aug 19, 2012 09:18 PM

I think the selectors have no guts to ask Sachin to make roonm for many Scahins who amy be denied opprotunities since this guy wishes to stay on to gte the Barnd Ambassador Pay off in Billions. He is truly patriotic like mant Congressmen and hence trhe Congress sponsored him for Rajay Sabha.Birds of a feather flock togather,I guess.Jai Cricket,,,,,

Retirement
by aditya ganguly on Aug 19, 2012 09:17 PM  | Hide replies

Cricket from 1996 was different, Dravid,Ganguly,Laxman,Kumble,Srinath and ofcoz the great Tendulkar..were the pillars. They had class.quality & dedication. After the 2000 betting fiasco, these players lifted the Indian cricket.Except Sachin, now all have retired. With all due regards to the newer generations,I must admit we will miss these tru greats of Indian cricket and will feel nostalgic whenever their heroics are shown in TV.

Ganguly and srinath not in the same league though. Team did not do oustanding anyway. However, sachin dravid kumble shown as individuals. Laxman was extremely talented. Couldn't blossom as did the trio being deprived of opportunities. But played sheet anchor in brilliant wins particularly against Australia. Hats off to VVS

How many players at their age are playing for others? You are kidding for sure. Then Fleming should be in your team still.

vvs laxman aka Azharuddin
by Mr Nationalist on Aug 19, 2012 08:44 PM  | Hide replies

Started watching cricket from 1987 World Cup...Slowly became a great supporter of Azhar...Tried Copying His Shots on the Cricket Field whenever we played in the Inter School Cricket competition at Ranchi. Then came in the Tendulkar Phase..After that the mind use to say "Tendulkar" but the Heart use to say "Azhar"..When the phase of match fxing erupted it was very unfortunate to see the disgraceful exit of "Azhar" from cricketing scenes...Lost total interest in Cricket for a year..Then came the epic knock of VVS of 281runs against the Aussies.....Watching that inning of Laxman it felt like somebody was playing with Azhar's Mask on his face...Transformed the interest back to Cricket Field as if it was a rebirth of "Azhar"...The next 10year was toatlly memorable...Never missed Azhar while watching the Indian Team Bat whenever this great legend was in the team named as "Very Very Special Laxman"...The Huge Politics in Indian Cricket Fraternity has taken it's toll on yet another great LEGEND...Finally I can say Good Bye to both Azhar & Laxman...I know we will never be able to see another Azhar in this era...Onle "VVS" could have given us that luxary to watch "Azhar" again...Thank you again to Great " Very Very Special Laxman"...Hope any one of you could play again to keep my interest alive for this lovely game called as " CRICKET".

Very Very Special Laxman must now take his rectangular family to england and australia tour because he never became captain like Dada Saurabh and MSD to take better half to Australia and England never the less Laxman hails from very very strict South Indian family with moral ethics and moral values that is why he felt shy to consult his better half before retirement. However it is rule of cricket that even best players like Ricky Pointing struggle to spare time for family members so VVS Laxman can use his best time for his wife and kids by starting Austrlia & England tours paying from own pocket which he can easily afford?

these players can't be replaced.

so let india decide to field 9 players from now onwards in every test, saying they have not found replacement for dravid and laxman..

i hope the youth of this country shun this colonial lazy game forever and opt for better sports....

The time changes and the days of longer version are over. There is no denying the greatness of VVS but he had become lethargic in fielding and so was Rahul. The time was ripe to say goodbye to game and there need to be no regret. Our back up bats are good and agile on field

time is also ripe to bid goodbye to cricket in India.

this useless, colonial game has spoiled the sports culture in our country. Add to that these blokes get too much attention than what they deserve...
