What the ...
by Jacob Jose on Oct 27, 2011 09:22 AM  | Hide replies

A Punjabi going down to a Maki, absurd. I have heard even worse and being spoken by a Pubjabi to his father :)

I don't believe one bit of what's mentioned. And for Siddu, who is charged with manslaughter, beats me, he can be such a sheep.

Lele can say what he wants but, in the end, no one is going to believe one bit about this specific incident. I hope no one buys his book :)

It wa no a MAKI as in Punjabi but a Hyderabadi "Maa Ke Laude". Having lived 3 years in Hyderabad, I became familiar with the term!

siddhu and azhar
by mohan on Oct 27, 2011 09:18 AM  | Hide replies

Seems some misunderstanding.
All clear. Let's relax.

Azhar is one of the greatest stylists India ever produced. Siddhu was a decent opener after
Sunny's retirement.

come on Rahul. Only 1 guy involved ??? no other big guys of past ??? If anything it shows that Azhar was a fool who could not cover up like others did. The cbi report also had stated about irregularities in b.c.c.i itself - this will never come out public. Only 1 major bakra was caught. I'm not condoning what he claimed he did ( 3 matches ) but let us not crucify him and ignore his sterling cricketing contribution. He's suffered enough for those errors. Such a great cricketer halted at 99th test - isn't that punishment enough ? let's give him a break. He has served his term in wilderness.

All said and done, India has several yardsticks for different people. Azhar had the gall to say that he is being targeted because he belonged to "minority community". Why did he not think of this devious idea when people (including me) who were clapping when he hit boundaries?/
Also, why did he get elected from UP?/ and for what ?? He is an MP today - what would you say about voters in this country??

That was an unfortunate comment. He apologized publicly for the comment. It was said when he was being attacked relentlessly and his career was about to be destroyed.

ok he got elected from UP. so what ? Jayaprada got elected from UP. Many other folks get elected from different places all the time.

He never should have played for India. He is a disgrace to the nation. Just because a killer has donated money he cannot be pardoned. What Azar did was heinous crime and he got away with it because he is from a minority community. True Indian cricket fans will forgive him.

Azar should never been the captain
by Siva Balakrishnan on Oct 27, 2011 09:12 AM  | Hide replies

He fixed matches... connived with Pakis... Essentially he always wanted India lose matches and make money and have girls from Dawood. He never played really for India. On the contrary Sidhu gave everything for India. Now Congis are the best friend for Azar.

poor comment. Azhar's 22 test tons, 17,000 runs in tests ODI, a huge lot ( second only to Tendulkar ) Man of Match awards at the time he retired, many brilliant catches, extraordinary talent and good captaincy record -- all this is a fact. His errors cost him his career towards the end. He is being misunderstood by folks like you.

I agree with you except. I think many more cricketers are also involved in match fixing which they were not exposed. Atleast he good enough bad image of this never the less appreicate his work who was one of the finest cricketer which India has produced during his regime.

Agreed. He had some good times but all those are under lens now. He wanted special privileges just because he was a muslim. That clearly shows where allegiance were. Again he never REALLY played for India. He was a self consumed womanizer and only wanted to be friends with Islamic radicals.

No one is above the law. If those people were wrong convict them too. But it was proved beyond doubt that Azar had (and still has) close relationship with Dawood.

TRUE TO HIS CULTURE....
by chandrashekar nayak on Oct 27, 2011 09:03 AM  | Hide replies

Navajith Singh Sidhu is a decent, self-respecting gentleman who would have felt offended by Azaruddin's uncivilised language against him. But Sidhu should have ignored azaruddin, given the fact that Azar hails from a community which does not under civilised behaviour.True to their culture, most of the time, they behave like a spoilt pig.

Azhar just lost his son. I hope we don't overdo the criticism.
Moreover please read the article - he did not say anything offensive, find out what he actually said what it meant. It's there in the article towards the end.
