the other teams are past masters in finding the lacuna of the top players of our team and tailoring their approach to nullify their strength. there should be continuous effort to improve their performance and remove the negatives. otherwise the success will be a one day wonder.
Rahane is a solid talent who averages a whopping 67 in first-class cricket. He proved himself mentally strong as well and really was a revelation in England-playing shots to all corners of the ground, boosting the spirits of the Indian cricket fans!
the person who wrote this article is not a true Indian. he means to say only the mumbains need to be in Indian team but not any one. this is absolute nonsence. rediff should not put these type of articles. this once again shows the mentality of Mumbai people.

I agree with you, the article is biased and of faulty logic. This is team india it doesn't matter where players come from. if rahane is the only mumbai player so be it. just because mumbai won the ranji trophy doesn't make it an automatic given that you should have more mum players in the squad.

Just because you DON'T win ranji makes you even less automatic.... same equation applies to "Don't win Ranji" as "Wins Ranji".
Sweeping Ranji results under the carpet because it suits you to promote your players is clearly evident....

to me it doesn't matter where 11 players are from as long as they do well.
you do have your own point just as i'm entitled to mine, but you are extremely biased in your viewpoint, so be it.
who am i to 'promote' my players? i dont indulge in fanboyism with any member of our team. but just because mum wins ranji doesn't mean you have all ranji players without merit..there are others who are doing well..look at our team its pretty good n solid despite the failures...

i'm happy rahane is the team though, he's not bad. but i dont prefer regionalism that only my 11 should be picked. it can be any indian national for that matter. you are just a troll here

No he is just pointing out that despite winning 5 of last 10 Ranjis the selection is based on other factors.
His mistake is Ranjis have nothing to do with odos.
Now tests is a different matter..... Again besides SRT hardly any Mumbai players in team.
If you guys are so good win Ranjis then get into test team. Your problem is you want to sweep Ranji results under the carpet and then toot your players.
However agreed that odos have nothing to do with Ranjis.

Great bespectacled bowler. One more illustration is of "Paady" Padmakar Shivalkar. I do not have ready with me his figures but they are superb. Only because of presence of Bshan Bedi, otherwise he was equally talented.

Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav from Satara in Maharashtra was a bronze medallist in wrestling in 1952 Olympics. He was the only Indian individual medallist in Olympics till Paes won a medal in 1996....
So run along.... again the only individual Olympic medallist for independent India for almost 50 years was a Marathi... figures!

NashikMarathi, granted that Khasaba Dadasaheb Jadhav may have won an Olympics medal (haven't googled it yet). But please rise above regional sentiments to build a strong nation. Or do you want India to be divided into states as individual nations? Do you think your Maharashtra will have a strong economy that way? Something to think about maybe.

On the contrary, native Mumbaikar do not achieve much (I am not including rest of mahrashtra). For that matter it is true for most of the metro cities. Life in metros is so tough that there is hardly any chance of being creative or doing some thing different, average person spends 25% of his life in commute, how can you expect anything meaningful coming out. No wonder small town boys/girls generally outsmart metro guys in most of the fields. On the positive side metro guys have good chance of living an average middle class life as most of the means are available to them.
