This is part and parcel of the game and it happens with most of the leaders. Your strength gets determined by the fact that how quickly and effectively you come out of slump. I think now it's real exam of Dhoni as a captain?

Dhoni's success
by onlooker on Oct 06, 2011 04:03 PM  | Hide replies

Seniors are jealous of the fame Dhoni is getting day by day. Our vested interest Indians are afraid that their community players number in the team will shrink if talents like Dhoni are allowed to be showcased. Hence the gang up and opposition to Dhoni.

Throw the unperforming team mates or throw the selector srikanth out.

Dhoni should stay as the captain in the greater interest of Indian cricket.

It is simply opposite.
It was dhoni who was taking all credits of great works done by seniors & other players.
he hmself was always a medicore player who survived on luck, manipulation & efoorts of some other great players in team.
Dhoni needs a first kick - as he nevr desrved a place as a player in team. There is a limit for luck & manipulation

hey, seniors to get jealous Dhoni has not achieved anything. It is his pure luck with the team Ganguly developed in 10 years india win the matches.
It is only Dhoni who is having vested intrested in keeping his useless f--k buddies in team hoping he will win without seniors & the same cunning & overconfident has brought him down.He can't be even as one in 15 in any other country.
In the best intrest of Indian cricket Dhoni has to be sacked.
Dhoni in due course side lined his potential rivals like Dinesh, parthiv & class players like Badri,Vijay,Jaffer,Uthappa.
the same sin is taking revenge on him.Don't worry india will win now & the fools in India including media will forget for another 3 years.

Dhoni is having this problem because of himself
by Superman on Oct 06, 2011 03:49 PM  | Hide replies

He does not want the wicketkeeper position to go to Parthiv or Wriddhiman....He knows, he is not an excellent wicketkeeper and not an excellent batsman in test crickets. If anybody perform better, he can loose his place. So, he is playing even if he is injured.

parthiv is much better than dhoni.
parthiv can bat even on bouncy pitches & score few runs.
dhoni doesn't habe ability to bat on bowlers friendly pitches & not a ntaural wicketkeeper.

well said except Parthiv is neither a good keeper nor batter.
Dinesh katthik is better batsmen & keeper than both.
You can see W.saha's batting in CLT20.
MNC's & advertisers,d gang controls BCCI.So they will not remove Dhoni. So there is no shame for them whether india wins or not they will worry about their coffers filling.

Finally truth
by Vish on Oct 06, 2011 03:11 PM  | Hide replies

"The flat wickets in India, conducive to batsmen, have more or less ensured a slow death for a breed called 'bowlers'." So true. So there isn't much that Dhoni can do by himself.
Unfortunately in Indian conditions, bowlers are just labour whom batsmen can milk for runs. There is greater appreciation for batsmen's centuries then bowler's wickets. Used to flat wickets, Indian batsmen are exposed even when playing second string sides like West Indies. Bowlers get exhausted due to non-responsive Indian conditions and are frequently injured or quickly become ineffective.
If Indian cricket management continues to ignore the plight of bowlers, it won't take long for India's most popular sport to lose its appeal and also its riches.

wrong.....Pakistan does not have dead pitches....I can clearly remember Wasim Akram mentioning, "the little domestic cricket I played, I always had green tops. I played Waqar mostly as opponents. Both were pleasured to get green tops." The pitches like Chennai and Kotla will kill cricket. The only good pitch we have is in Eden gardens.

Sorry I don't know much about Pakistan's pitches. All I know is that Pakistan's last great fast bowlers were Wasim Akram & Waqar Younis. They don't seem to have produced any great fast bowlers after that.
With dead pitches there can be no great fast bowlers.

I often wondered how Pakistan is able to produce fast bowlers? Day before yesterday I was watching the recent Ranji trophy match and it was disappointing to see pacers clocking an average speed in the range of 115-120 kmph, how can they take 10 wickets of international team.

Few good bowlers got the chance of representing India, initially they were able to bowl 140 kmph but after 2-3 years they are reduced to the medium pacers bowling in the range of 125-130 kmph.

Where as if you look Pakistan they seems to have battery of fast bowlers ready to unleash their magic.

Imran Khan was a fast medium bowler initially but turned himself to a deadly fast bowler through practice and determination.

Even our upcoming spinners are not up to the mark.

Thanks

Mind Releams The Answer is Red Meat Diet.Muslim and Western Countries strongly advertise for intake of Red Meat in their diet.Beef which constitutes Cow is the main source of Energy. No wonder Imran Khan give advice to srinath when he was young for eating Red Meat in their diet. Now after reading my comment many people will say that In india In Muslim dominated areas you cAn get Red Meat but again its not as easily available. In Western countries they include Red Meat in almost every diet ,for vegetarian food you have to pay more and order separately.

milind you need slow medium pacers to win test matches...we dont have any express fast bowlers...that is why were no. 1 team for the last 2 years...

to win tournaments express fast bowlers are useless...we need slow medium pacers to win. because of slow medium pacer bowlers we won 1983 odiu WC, 2011 odi Wc, 2007 T20 wc, and remained no. 1 test side (where you need to take 20 wickets to win)...

if we had fast bowlers like pakistan we would not have been able to so well...

Fix matches against England in coming series. Now this would be very sad for a mediocre person like Dhoni who would have nothing to boast off as then India would again be on losing end -and this time at their own backyard. Really when things starts going against you it becomes so difficult.

well suppandi, you have so long been waiting for your cherished dream to come true...well let's see...

supposedly better captains like ponting, vettori, sangakkara, smith etc. finished their careers as captains after WC whereas india under dhoni were supposed to exit in the first round itself....

unfortunately for many indian cricket fans their dreams did not come true and india won the 2011 odi cup in style once again reaffirming india's youngistan' and captain cool dhoni's strength and their ever weak link sachin again failing in the finals as expected...

for many staunch indian cricket fans it was a big shock that their favourite whipping boy dhoni finished the tournament in style by hitting a six and fittingly winning MOM award. the youngistan generation once again showed their class to the fanatic indian cricket fans disappointing them once again and winning the WC...

the only silver lining for these fans was that sachin (the most overated batsman for the last 20 years) also rode piggyback on this team for his cherished WC victory...

A player with very limited abilities like Dhoni is not even capable of an individual performance which requires skills such as technique, patience and perseverance; so as to bail out the team from a tricky situation. As a captain, Dhoni's success was based on the good form of a bunch of very talented and enormously experienced cricketers. Once we take them out of equation......as they say: "The King is Naked...!!!"

Dhoni test average outside
In WI 2006, 24
In SA 2006, 26
In AUS 2007, 17.62
In SLK 2009 17.5
In SA 2011, 35.8
In WI 2011- 19.5 (last series)
( score of 0,16,2, 5 & 74(only one good inning when WI was operating with bowlers like bishoo/chandrapaul & front line bowler rampaul/shammi etc was resting due to injury).
In Eng 2011- 29 (last series)

Also dhoni after playing 27 T-20 intl has not scored a single fifty, no match winning inning, no MOM & pathetic strike rate of 105 (one of the lowest for any batsman in T-20 at his batting position)
In ODI overseas also he is a big failure as batsman who never perform when require due to limited batting ability & has hardly won any important ODI outside india with his batting.
He is a flop wicketkeeper also in last 3 series where dropped many catches.

Dhoni is best
That’s why doing rest.
hehehe

On top of it he plays regional politics to the max & keep useless like RP singh, raina, chawla, nehra, type player in team because they are his friends & from north.
Kick this useless non performing batsman dhoni first before any one. he is always a liability in test , T-20 intnl & ODI overseas based on his performance

Rightly said Mr.Against Pseudos. As long as 10 people in the team are stars, Dhoni can pretend to be a captain cool. When the real test begins, he is back to square-1 (captain fool). He was expected to win the test series against west indies, but thanks to Dhoni's courageous decisions, India scraped with a victory against the very strong west indian team (no 8 in rankings). We expected atleast 1 victory in England. Each match we lost, there was a new blame from Dhoni......

Mr. Jiju it is not dhoni who is pretending to be captain cool. he has delivered more than expected by many fans. besides he never steals credit of other 10 players performances. he has always given credit to his team and melted in the background when the time for giving credit comes. that is why everybody loves him.

dhoni does not pretend. he IS captain cool, keeping his cool and nerve in the most trying circumstances inspite of increasing workload on him he has delivered more often than not and came out with flying colours even when more and more responsibilities sre thrown at him. he is unflincing and uncomplaining through it all and gives his best and extracts the best out of his players...

it was tendulkar who all these 20 plus years was living off the credits of performances of the 10 star players in the team donated to him by his fanatics...

now in the england tour he was exposed. if we would have won majority of you people would have ignored the other 10 star players and given credit only to tendulkar. now that the others also failed (a rare thing) tendulkar was exposed fully...

Wow, how knowledgeable you try to sound.....!
Who told you people credit performances to Tendulkar? If that was the case, Sachin Tendulkar would got man of the series in WC. Those days are long gone by which India would win only because of Tendulkar and 1/2 bowlers. Post Ganguly captaincy, the team no longer depends on him. It is a team effort, and has nothing to do with any single person.
And if anyone who could survive because of credits given by fanatics (like you), Dhoni could well be the PM of India soon.
West Indies tour and England tour exposed the true nature of Dhoni's captaincy. Whenever India lost, Dhoni had a new excuse to tell. We saw how cool Dhoni was when India did not even bother to chase 147 in 50 overs with supposedly one of the best batsmen! In England, we saw how well he "extracted" the best out of the players (as per you)...... And regarding his keeping, lesser said the better. Great captain that he is, he blamed the crowd for dropped catches in 2008 against Lanka!! More shocking was his statement during world cup "Chawla needed this game more than Ashwin". Is WC the time to give "practise" to his chelas? After the team's loss, his sentences are more like a child sitting nanny. Most of his "brave" decisions as you people call them are just fluke. As long as you people (Sachin & Dhoni fans) dont understand it, keep crying.

Maintaining winning streak is not possible, sometimes it may be good for the team and the person lest it should develop over-confidence in the captain's mind as also with the players and the Board, who take things for granted. In the bargain u dont allow for developing leadership among other players. No man is perfect and there has to be look out for new leadership as like for new and young players to take the place of seniors which does not seem to be happening in Indian team. Seniors have also taken things for granted which does not bode well for the team and pride. What is interesting, however, is the funny comments Dhoni made after losing the last match about his feeling about the loss being blessing in disguise which shows that he was not ready for the fight and always looked fatigued mentally more than physical, unlike a of real leader, even if its yrue in his case having been playing for a non-stop cricket, but then why at all he was playing for Chennai superkings if he was fatigued and wanted rest badly, is it for consideration other than cricket and lure oflucre? He shud explain.

I always adjudge MSD as a lucky captain, like Ricky Ponting. Someone else gathered the talents over a period of time, assembled and made them play like a unit, suddenly these guys get appointed as Captain and they took the credit. Most of the heroes of WC-2001 winning team were selected in the reigns of Ganguly, Dravid and Kumble, including MSD himself. Now, MSD got a ready-made team in form; he won the World Cup.

Secondly, Dhoni has no cricketing brain; I remember one match against Australia, where Sachin made 175, chasing 350 odd runs. When Sachin and Raina were beating the Aussie bowlers in tandem, MSD didn’t take the Batting Power-Play; he took it as usual @ 46th over, when SRT and SR both were out, and we lost the match by 3/4 runs.

Thirdly, MSD is selfish as batsman and misuses his power of captaincy. Other than WC-2011 final, one should check the matches where MSD promoted himself at no 3 or 4; every time India was on a good platform made by openers. If the situation is 3 down on 50 or something similar, he will send either Raina, or Kohli, or Rohit, but he will come up; coward.

Majority people describe him as “cool” and patient under pressure, I think he is basically arrogant and a victim of Superiority Complex.
