100th Century

Tendulkar should try to score 99, not 100. After reaching 99, he should try his luck for one more.

Actually those who are ridiculing Tendulkar want him to score his 100th century ! But they are taking out their frustration by ridiculing him ! If he makes his 100th century the same people will be happy at the back of their mind !!

Forget Sachin's century. We should be more bothered to see India win matches atleast on home pitches first.

Selfish Sachin
by sameer bhagwat on Nov 14, 2011 09:07 PM  | Hide replies

I used to be a Sachin fan once upon a time but with time the respect I had for him has declined. It all started with the innings of 194* against pakistan. Despite India being in tremendous position and ready to declare he was taking 2-3 runs per over. Later he justified that by saying that 2-3 runs per over is standard in test cricket. Well it certainly isn't when the team is looking to declare.
Later he fought with the team management in order to open in ODIs and increase his century count, despite Saurav, Sehwag and later Gambhir being more suited for the job. But when the question came about his opening in tests he flatly declined forcing Dravid to do the job. Moreover he even refused to give up his number 4 position in tests forcing the others to change position around him. He may one day reach 100 100s, but for me Dravid is a far better test batsman than him.

Dear Sonu,
It would be of immense use to us if you get some cricketing knowledge before coming to these forums and giving you two cents. Everybody knows that opening in ODIs is the best way to increase you century. FYI out of top 10 ODI century makers, 8 were openers and the remaining two were Ponting and Lara, who would have certainly matched sachin's centuries had they also opened the batting and played the same number of matches

poor sameer, pity on u. again u posted a crap without luking at stats. this is the average of no. of centuries per matches. sachin hs 48 centuries in 453 matches. plz tell which opener hs better average of scoring centuries in comparision to sachin.

sachin 48/453 = 9.43
ponting 30/370 = 12.33
jayasuriya 28/445 = 15.89
ganguly 22/311= 14.13
gibbs 21/248=11.80
anwar 20/247=12.35
gayle 19/228=12.0
lara 19/299=15.73
m waugh 18/244=13.55
haynes 17/238= 14.0
kallis 17/317=18.64
astle 16/223 = 13.93

again i wud lyk to repeat , dnt post rubbish if u dnt understnd cricket :)

There is one point that I'd like to disagree about.Sachin started opening in ODIs in the NZ tour of 1994 when Azhar was captain. And after hitting his first ODI century in the Singer Cup in SL, he stuck to playing at the position partnering with Ganguly, Sehwag etc.So that talk of fighting to open in ODIs is inaccurate.Your other points may or may not be valid, but this one about opening is inaccurate.

you have precisely put everything what my opinion on him his. he had so much respect but he has lost all respect because of his selfish record making attitude with zero concern for the team.
since a long time he has been doing trick possible to just make as many records as possible. Infact he has recently also applied his shrewd brain to prevent others to break his records. Not many might have noticed and it is my personal opinion that he had put up a proposal to ICC to break the one day internationals into 25 over innings each and knowing him by now the main reason i find behind it is that he knows if that is done then no one would ever be able to come even close to his record of centuries in one days.

There are lot of people critisiing about sachins 100 century. But these fells forget that the 99 he made itself is great, if he was australain or from England not one would have critisised. Falls if you cannot appreciate a person, pl do not cretisise a person. I am sure he will sure prove all of you wrong, as he had done may time....Just wait and watch.

Everyone knows that the moment he hit 100 th century the voices for his retirement become large. So he is playing smartly i.e.he is scoring runs like 50s60sor 70s but not 100, because he knows the moment he hit hundred he will be a history but by this approach no one can throw him out as he is scoring runs .

Can BCCI arrange a single test series with Bangladesh for Sachin to score 100th ton.Sachin has become very nervous and ashamed of himself to face media at every innings failure to score his 100th ton. Before he become worst BCCI should consider public request to fix a single test series wih Bangladesh to score his 100th ton.
