Please do not belittle the award and the great man associated with it. Respecting elders is a sign of greatness no matter how big one has become...that is what Sachin actually did after accepting the award.
I can not understand why one

Why SAchin
by kumar be on Jun 01, 2011 10:18 AM

Why always sachin why not others.Still we cannot say sachin is best.Nowadays we have lot of talented players who can bat under pressure.Sachin can bat only as opening batsman he cannot bat down the order to take pressure.our youngster are really batting under pressure so bcci should consider those players also.sachin got more records because he playing as opener

Why always sachin.Nowadays there more player in the team who can bat and bowl well.Sachin can bat only in opening slot but other who are batting down the order and taking the pressure are very important.Sachin is having more records because he batting only as opening batsman.Thats why he is having more record. He never had interest in batting down the order because he cannot handle pressure. So bcci should consider other players also who really playing under the pressure.(Example - WC 2011 Final, Sachin out in 3rd over but still we could win WC)

Running behind money
by n k on Jun 01, 2011 09:55 AM

IPL IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN National team. i. e. Money is more important than playing for your country. And still you are the greatest player, winning almost each award??

Dear Mr. SRT,
Pls look into yourself and confirm back if you see these.

Not expected from you at least.

A disappointed used to be follower :-((((((

Dhoni is the true cricketer of the year
by DesiDada on Jun 01, 2011 09:13 AM  | Hide replies

1) Sachin was in the team for 20 years. Undoubtedly a Gem of a player but definitely not a game changing player.

2) Dhoni has been in action for just about 5 years. Within that he has won every world championship in every single format (WC IPL T20 WC). So obviously Dhoni is the game changer and the best captain in the world.

Final Virdict : Scahin can be awarded the lifetime award but Dhoni should be the captain , the player and the Indian of the year

hhahahaah. really, whoever is the captian, sachin is no.1. as long as team strong, that team wins. captaincy is temporary, it depends on unity of the players.

I cant agree completely with the first statement. At Present stage I can agree with that. But Sachin was the only consistant game changer in the team during 1990-2000. Regarding to the second statement. Offcourse Dhoni is the game changer and there are many other game changers and as a result Indian team is the number one team. And I admits Dhoni is the better captain. But as a team India won the world cup not Dhoni. About the verdict, Sachin is the consistant player of the year and he got the player of the year award.

He is not GEM of the player, he is GUM of the player. He is not retiring and giving chance to other youngster. He is spoiling indian cricket. And to he can bat only opening, that is the reason he has more record. If he his really playing for india he should come down the order and has to bat under pressure

Without taking any credit away from Dhoni for his batting in the finals,he was simply ordinary in his team selection and batting till that point.Even in the finals after the Gauti/Kohli partenship, everybody expected India to win with yuvi and Raina still to bat inlieu of their form and strong performances in earlier matches. India infact wouldn’t have crossed the QF hurdle without contribution from Sachin,Yuvi and Raina. So making comments like he is the best player is absolutely absurd and that too if you consider his batting performances in tests which remains ordinary even after he playing 40-45 tests. Sachin deserves to be the cricketer of the yr for 2009-10.Sehwag does have a chance for 10-11 but his performance in most challenging SA conditions was pathetic. The other one who should be considered for the award along with Sachin is Zaheer for 10-11.

Actor not cricketer

Sachin Tendulkar claimed that he is an actor not a cricketer to save taxes. So much for being a role model.

In NDA regime Sachin asked for tax waiver for gifted Ferari. These cricketers are just like politicians. They want everything free. It's high time now to have taxes on the money they earn in match. First thing they play for money, country is second priority. This is obvious many refused to go to WI but preferred to play in IPLs.

Inspired millions of useless ppl like you. Don't you remember this WC final when Sachin who had been accumulating runs in the league matches was walking back to the pavilion after failing in the most important match of his life. Dont you remember how an out of form Dhoni promoted himself up the order, took the responsibility and played the most important ODI innings by an Indian to win us the WC. Can you ever imagine sachin even in your wildest dream winning the WC for India with a six. Impossible. His job is to score a century in league games, raise his bat, and go to the pavilion to rest and leave the result of the match to others.

I think VVS Should have been named Player of the year for single handedly winning Test matches and saving the match and in some cases series too.Its a different thing that he does not play ODI's.

For a Lifetime Acheivement award they pay Rs. 15 Lakhs and for an individual Rs. 2 crore for being part of World Cup winning squad. Sad. They need to pay a lot more to the retired sportsmen. Injustice at the behest of market value.

rightly said.... the present lot of players are already earning crores and no one would have expected more and no one would have objected if some amount was spared for the veterans and some amount contributed towards other sports that do not flourish due to lack of funds..... pathetic BCCI
