WHY ONLY BLAME THE PLAYERS
by Ravi Om on May 26, 2011 07:06 PM

The board should also be equally blamed rather the board should be penalised for allowing players to opt for such tournaments.

These players are after money only. No nationalism. After playing T20 now many are injured and many needs rest. Making fool of country. They have become slaves of their franchies.

He is wrong about the Pakistani Soldiers..
US, Europe, India and China are still trying to figure out who and why Paki soldiers fight and to whom they report!
Often it turns out their Generals dont know that their commanders are doing and their commanders dont know what their soldiers are upto :)

For god's sake, don't compare one
soldier and a cricketer. Soldiers
saves us from enemy whereas cricketer entertain us. We take
cricket seriously than a soldier.
We never raise our voice for better
salary for soldiers but know how
much cricket board or frenchisee
pays a cricketer. In fact, there
won't be any cricket without soldiers. But that is an irony !!

It is fine .What is a country -it is people and in this country day in and day out right from a rickshaw driver to ministers all are about to loot every second and the country encourages the mediocracy in the form of reservation -so what is wrong if you talent put it tomaximum returns -every one in BCCI is making it to loot so enjoy while you can.

VERY WELL SAID!!!

I believe that the media is making a mountain out of a mole-hill in this case (of course, that's nothing new!)! I will not be surprised if they even go on to ask why Sachin, or any other national player, should choose to play in the IPL, because, should he sustain an injury during the tournament, he would not be available for national duties! All those ex-cricketers who seem to have formed a forum to castigate Gambhir seem to be motivated by just one factor - JEALOUSY! Grow up guys!!!! Secondly, if Gautam is not available for national duties, how does it matter? After all, India has, on many occasions in the past, played when their best players had been unavailable due to injuries, and even due to "personal" reasons!

Personally, I do not think Gambhir is so very "indispensable", either as captain, or even as a player!

IF GAUTI OR KKR OR BCCI IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THAT STUFF, WE INDIAN CRICKET FANS ARE ALSO SOME EXTENT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MATTER. WHY OUR FANS ARE GO & TO SEE THE MATCHES IN STADIUM? WE CRICKET FANS BAN TO SEE IPL MATCHES. THIS SITUATION WILL NOT ARISE. SO WE CRICKET FANS ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE THE SITUATION

Ban IPL and 20-20

Throw out the IPL circus and it's clowns. The BCCI is only interested in making money. Cricket will finally be reduced to this IPL farce. All are making merry; the cricketers, Umpires, Commentators at the expense of the public. Slam bang variety is going to kill the charm of test cricket.

If you avoid IPL... some other private Indian Circus League will be started by others... BCCI is in a catch 22 situation.. but I agree with you that so many matches, uncontrolled money flow, actors/jokers are spoiling the charm of cricket..

The intention of gambhir is very clear, its money above country, so he should be banned in IPL-5.

Do you know that Tendulkar had opted out last WI tour.

The fact is that WI tour falling into US time zone are commercially not good for these top Indian cricketers as TRP of these matches is very poor.

Tendulkar was not injured like how this chap was in IPL. Tendulkar was rested and was announced very much prior to take further decisions.

Now Gambhir was going to lead the team and suddenly just before the start of the tour he opts out.

Question
by lookisay on May 26, 2011 06:49 PM  | Hide replies

If the injury report was not shown to Gambhir and he never knew the extent/seriousness of the problem, how could he be held responsible?
KKR owner (who is he btw?) should be held accountable... even heard that the KKR management tried to fool the BCCI by sending an injury report just couple of hours before the last KKR match and hence showing off that they had complied with the rules of reporting injury to the BCCI.. something fishy.. if these are real facts.
This KKR owner definitely looks like a big crook.. only way possible to keep the sports clean is to keep the "Jokers & Actors" out the sports business.

if gambhir was injured why was he put up for auction? does not the owner/actor/salary payer/bcci saviour/bcci sponsor deserve to know what he is getting for his investment? how dare he is asked to give up his millions to somebody who is injured and will not play? BCCI should be banned for putting up players for auction when they are injured...bcci should be banned for not standing by srk and gambhir...

Gambhir was not injured when he was auctioned. He was injured while playing a league match. KKR should have communicated the injury to BCCI ontime / allowed the player to take rest in the bigger interest of the nation..
Now BCCI will take action on KKR for not playing by the rules and treating the cricket games as some "MOVIE" releases.. where anything drama is okay as long as money is made..

what bigger interest of the nation? how was he going to know how big the injury will be, players are known to have played with worse injuries and saved or won matches. kumble played with fractured face. gatting played on with his nose broken in two by marshall delivery.

who can predict which injury will get how much serious?

for bigger interest of the nation ipl, and all other local tournaments should be banned. what if players get injured in any of these and become unfit for ''national'' duty.

It's not completely out of question. For many injuries, pain is not an accurate indicator of the seriousness of the problem. Sportsmen take pain killers and pull through the day, and later take couple of days rest to overcome the injury (if it is just a strain or a muscle pull).. at the same time some hairline fractures might not give the pain immediately but would progressively become threatening..

Cricket and Money
by S Shrikanth on May 26, 2011 06:48 PM

No Cricketer plays for his country. Its a private game sponsored by consumer companies who create passion among people so that they could sell their products to them. The countrymen are basically fooled by BCCI, a private limited company.

IPL means money..money..money. Who would like to go to a poor country like WI where matches are played in the night(India) and their ads can not be seen by Indian consumers.

Injury, lay-off etc are just excuses. Malinga defying SLCB has already set the precedent.
