Tillakaratne, currently a provincial politician from the main opposition United National Party (UNP), played 183 Tests and 200 one day internationals between 1989 and 2004. He captained the national team in 10 Tests.
This Tilakaratne's charges are useless unless he provides proof of the allegations. SL, infact have done pretty well over the last few years. Why this fellow has suddenly woken up to this is not clear ? It raises question mark over his motives. Added to that, he is now a politician, which means you have to take his words with a pinch of salt. For now, REDIFF can move this news to last page. If he really provides proof, that surely calls for a headline
Having retired now and not being in the IPL, he needs these kind of allegations to be in the news. If he was really honest, why didnt he make these allegations earlier when he was in the team? If true, he is primarily guilty of it, for not having revealed it at the right time.
