Perfect win, two jarring notes
by Orient Mystique on Mar 25, 2011 10:47 AM  | Hide replies

One who watched the match fully thought that cricket does not get better than this.

Indian team, which had done reasonably well against Bangladesh in the opening match (I wouldn't say resounding win, because of the margin of victory), behaved a silly way against England and South Africa to put itself in unnecessary situation of doubt about qualifying for the knock out stage. India's wins against Ireland and Netherland weren't too convincing and in any case were not showing India as a champion or potential champion. They of course did well in their last league game against West Indies.

But yesterday's match could easily be described as their finest show in the whole tournament so far. It could have even been described as PERFECT, but for two jarring notes:

a) Gambhir's needless run out, that too after he had narrowly missed being run out just a few moments earlier.

b) Dhoni losing his customary cool, much against his own recent commandment to his team mates to play for the team and not for the gallery, playing a needless shot and losing his wicket. His departure in fact kindled memories of the matches against England and SA.

Hope such shortcomings will not be repeated in the two matches remaining to take India to a possible glory after nearly 28 years.

BCCI Fixes match to keep interests of Media and Bookies
by george pinto on Mar 25, 2011 10:46 AM  | Hide replies

This match was to be won by India because of the huge stakes involved! The ICC, BCCI and some players of India and Australia have connived to make India win. You know, the matches are being played in India. 1 billion people look forward to the fact that India should enter the final. Bookies,TRP hungry media have trillions of dollars on this match. You tell, me, had India lost the match, would people throng to see Pak - Aus semifinal match? It seems highly likely that the previous match is fixed!

you are half vit moron..can you please tell us how to buy the great Australian team...they don't need money so the blame of fixing just got diluted..if it was some weak aftican nation, it can be justified but against Ponting Australia.. not possible.. you are just airing your views in the air, looking for excuses for Aussie loss..no truth in your comments..

I'm sorry to say this; Unfortunately gullible people like you patronize this so called Gentleman's game, which is otherwise clean has become corrupt in this subcontinent. YOu forgot Modi? You forgot Azarudden? Why do you think that Australians are white doves? You forgot Hansie Cronje? Shane Warne? Mind you, when the money involved wasn't that much in 1996 - 7 people fixed matches. Now the amount has increased in 1000 times more so are the stakes. By the way, who's running ICC? the Great Sharad Pawar.

Mr.Suppandi,
You can fool most people some times, some people most of the times. But, you cannot fool all the people at all the times.
This is what Dhoni is doing for the past 2 years.
Now his fans are also trying to do the same. Otherwise I do not have any ill felling towards Mr.OM SANTHI.

Not easy
by faruk on Mar 25, 2011 10:43 AM  | Hide replies

It will not going to be easy in semi's because pakistan looks better team than australia. India had won becuase of rough & dry pitch, where aussies dont have quality spinners. But against pakistan they had a quality spinners as wells good pace attack and their batting looks solid to.

u mean to say their batting is solid, what a joke. they had to chase only 186 against australia and they lost 6 wickets in the process. if there would have been 30-40 runs more who knows what would have happened. so u cant say their batting is solid. their bowling is no doubt great.

aussies are gentlemen
by Wanderlust on Mar 25, 2011 10:42 AM  | Hide replies

whatever their personal sentiments towards subcontinent ...they behave quite balanced... their agression and sledging on match centric and after that is over, they behave quite balanced and levelheaded. on has to accept that aussies can pull back and become a dominating side once again by the inherent efficient system of cric in their country...

ours is a rag tag circus ....even that incompetent dhoni fights with management to retain another incompetent chawla.... thanks to srikanth that we have ashwin ...else our spin attack was worser than bangladesh

Ashwin had the balls in him and was the reason for India's entry into the Semi-Finals in a confident moode. If Munaf had opened the bowling, then watson & Haddin would have also scored centuries ahead of Ponting...

Definitely australians are gentle when compated to monkeys/racists in Sreesanth & Harbhajhan Singh.
They show agression & not foolish monkey antics on the field.

Yes, agreed so far as Ashwin's bowling is concered he did excellent job to restrict Aussi for falying start and equally he got out opnner who is good form. I had also discussed about his coram delivery and I recalled he Arrappli Parassna but Dhoni should get ideas and view to utilize Ashwini as in past our Former Captain Mansur Ali Khan.

I had discussed the issue related bowlers against Australia, please recalled quality spinners we have, Aussi no more and India sent back their home soil. Now, Semi clashes is very tough on hand but it will need hard work for each member of the team and contribute in batting. I think fielding must be runsaving and equally catches requird to take it. Koli and Zak main weapon for Pak. and I am also praying to GOD India should win and go for Final.
