Sachin is great!
by Sivakumar M on Mar 15, 2011 05:54 PM

Many people of saying that Sachin is not a match winner. How come he can be a match winner if no other player plays good when sachin bats good. He is a opener and he can't play all the 50 overs. Atleast we need bit of contributions from other batsmen and bowlers. Tell me a 'match winning' opener who plays all the 50 overs or finishes the game when chasing? Only a good start can be provided by the openers and rest with others and bowlers. It is a 11 players game and not a single player game like Tennis or Badminton.

India should improve batting
by mayur makwana on Mar 15, 2011 05:52 PM

Perfomrance of india is very bad right from start. Agst Banglaesh, Bangla has scored massive 281. Agst Ebglabd Batting collpased. Agst Ireland india were 135/5. If couple wickets have fallen then result have been diffrent and Agst SA every1 knows. So it is raher shacky if india enteres in semis.!!!???

Dear Sachin,
I feel sad. Even after 22 years of playing for the country, you are still expected to win matches on your own.We forget that apart from you there are 10 more players in the team. You have been the run machine in World Cups with an average ...of 60.

Even today while you yet again proved your class with a 111 the others around took it easy. You chased the ball in the outfield and ensured that your throws landed on top of the bails. Others preferred to drop catches or go back to the dressing room for a 'rest' while a substitute fielder came in.   Sachin, the current Indian cricket team doesn't deserve you. They don't know what it is like to give one's blood and sweat for this nation of a billion people. For them fame and money has come to easy and undeserving - not commensurate to the 'supposed talent' that they posses. Do you remember what you had said to Tom Alter in that interview in 1989? "I just want to play cricket".

Sachin, let me also not hide the truth - you are not my favorite cricketer - but one plays favorites only with humans - not with Gods for they are revered, emulated and looked at in awe...[We expect Sachin to win this cup for us. But what about the other players? Are they supposed to be playing ludo in the dressing room? I hope that the rest of the team wake up and realize that they are not

so then, who has benefited the most from his efforts ? Team or Sachin ?
Remember the incident when Dravid was captain and he declared the innings against australia
when sachin was nearing his double century and how sachin showed his disgust against this decision infront of media ? Dravid declared the innings because he was taking hell lot of balls to complete his double century when india needed to declare early to exert pressure on australia. This clearly shows that except for the few early years sachin only plays for his records and not for the team.

Typical Indian hero worship !!!! He is just an average batsman. He has been playing for so long and hence the records. Records have no meaning... it is only the wins for the team which matters.

any sportsperson will tell you that playing for 20 years at any level is not small achievement. To keep your body working for you from age 15 to 40 the kind of hard work one needs to put in cannot be emulated by the people posting comments here

Indian Team need to improve their standards
by Sowri Rajan on Mar 15, 2011 05:45 PM

The moment Sachin scores a century, fans decide that India will lose the match. It is practically impossible for a single man to win every match. Not only other Batsmen, bowlers and fielders should contribute to achieve the winning ratio. What we lack is killing instinct. Look at Nehra and Patel - do you see any life in them when they bowl or field. Harbhajan talks big and till now, he has not done anything useful for the team's success. Virat Kohli has been given enough chances. It is time for Raina and Ashwin to step in and let them also be given opportunities. Dhoni should try and involve himself in choosing bowlers and taking the power play at the right time. The last game when we played against South Africa, he should not have made any batting changes and let Kohli and Yuvi go and bat in their respective positions. You tried Pathan before and he did not succeed in any of the games. If India does not qualify for the quarterfinal, Dhoni should quit captaincy and leave it to someone to manage.

Absolutely right! If you see his scores for last 10-15 matches, he should not be there in the team at the first place. Neither he scored runs, nor did he do extraordinary keeping. And just for being an Extra-ordinary (??) captain if you wish to stay within first playing 11, that is not fare at all. We can very well have a NON-PLAYING Captain. So, Mr.Dhoni, please start playing your natural game and contribute to your team. I think Rediff will have the opportunity to post your photo while batting....not while Jet-skiing at Goa...

If Pak Openers learn to play from Tendulkar
by S Shrikanth on Mar 15, 2011 05:30 PM  | Hide replies

Then their team will become a losing team :-)

In the 5 matches India played in this world cup, Tendulkar made century in 2 matches and India could not win them. In remaining 3 matches Tendulkar was dismissed early, India won them.

These sachin haters do not know that records come in your way only when you score. After all the score goes to team and the country and not sachin's home.
Indian bowling is currently is facing a test and is being exposed. No score is good enough if bowlers do not perform.
World cup is not end of life.
