Great batsman, average bowler but never an agile fielder.

Fielding used to be poor for most of the cricketers. He was NO Exception. We learnt the game from Britishers.
It was Nawab of Pataudi who brought importance to Fielding. That brought in persons like Wadekar, Solkar etc.

We know Salim Durrani and his talents & achievements to a fair extent but what draws attention is his sister Nigar's remarkable feat. We should have a full-fledged article on her and may be an element of case studies for business schools and inspirational speakers.

POOR BCCI
by Deepak Pisharody on Jun 09, 2011 08:24 AM

It is indeed a great honour BCCI has bestowed on the great Salim Durrani.Better late than never. However the amount given in honour of Mr.Durrani was very very less considering the modern times.A life time achievement award needs to be Rs.1 crore by todays standards.

BCCI can spends crores every night trying to entertain our cricketers through cheer girls/leaders but they think Rs. 15 lakhs is sufficient for our great cricketers of yester years.

I wont be surprised if our cricket goes the West Indian way in 10 -15 years down the line. The modern cricketer is too fast and has no time for the whims and fansies of BCCI.sEE HOW THEY TREATED OUR GREAT KAPIL DEV.A person who brought laurels to our country was treated so shabbily by the great BCCI.

Shame Shame Mr.Sharad Pawar and CO.iT IS TIME WHEN A 2g TYPE SCAM WILL HAPPEN IN CRICKET AND mR.sHARAD pAWAR WILL BE ANSWERABLE TO THIS GREAT CRICKET CRAZY NATION.

A Maverick Genius!

Salim Aziz Durrani is one of the greatest cricketers produced by India. In his pomp years in 1960s - mid 1970s, he was a tremendous crowd puller who used to produce sixes at the demand of the crowd. Charismatic, handsome and ever smiling, he was a true superstar who was a crowd's favorite. It is a pity that he played only 29 tests, he should have played more for he had the talent and skills to produce magic the way he wanted. He was rated very highly by his peers in his time and Gary Sobers rated him very highly. Not many know that while his dad migrated to Pakistan, he stayed back in India and went onto become a world class player. He richly deserves the award and all the applauds! Well played, Salim!
