it is high time he retired from cricket and take responsibility in grooming upcoming young cricketers in the country. he is playing like he is a government employee whose retirement age is 58. lots of sports persons have quit in their prime to make way for youngsters. like somebody said "why did he go" and not "why he is not yet gone". and we indians and the medis (sic) like to eulogise and over the top praising of sachin is only going to be a laughing stock in the world of sports.

?????????? What nonsense... he'll retire when there is someone that is 'half' as good as he is to take over... we're way off that...

by Another Critic on Jul 26, 2011 07:32 PM
Why should Sachin give his hard earned place in Indian team to an undeserving youngster?
Will you give your job to an unemployed, there's lot of unemployment out there.
Stop lecturing. Go sleep and get some rest, hope you won't sound like an idiot after you wake up.
Re: Re: sachin tendulkar
by jayakumar kumar on Jul 26, 2011 07:42 PM
stupid argument. you arguing for the sake of arguing. one place in indian cricket is being fought for by 1000s of youngsters. by the way i am working for my livelihood. if i am as 0,001% rich as sachin i would happily retire. dont mix apples and organges. and this is not lecturing. you are just blinded by jingoistic feeling. that's all. also tell me one sport where the duration of the game has been changed since inception. cricket is a half baked sport with only a handful of countries playing and 50% of those are in the sub continent.

Your argument had been valid if you had worked as hard as .001 percent of what Sachin did. Clearly you haven't. Does bill gates retires? Does Ambani retires? each of them is rich but they have worked equally hard to be that rich.

You are dead wrong Cricket is played more than 120 countries in the world...Dont just go thru couple of newspapers and couple of websites...And about retiring SRT..?? keep dreaming The guy is still the best and backbone of this team..loosing and winning is part of game those who dont understand it not fit for any sport...
Re: Re: sachin tendulkar
by jayakumar kumar on Jul 26, 2011 07:44 PM
when sachin started playing, someone else was in his place. if he thought like you did than sachin would not have found a place in the side. so much for your logic.

He just scored 2 centuries in 3 matches against SA in SA who are No.2 in the World in his last test series, one Test match failure and people want to Retire, well if any1 can retire from the 3 it has to be Dravid who now a days giving life to opposition Batsman who went to make a Century and Killing India
glad tendulkar dint hit century of cunturies at this so called home of cricket and immortalize it hope he makes the century of centuries in india only.
Re: Sachin the Lord's

sachin is a great batsman. not the greatest. he is not as mercurial as brian lara or viv richards. his second innings average is very ordinary. steve waugh has won many matches for australia single handedly with his batting. sachin is the tennis equivalent of ivan lendl who is remembered as a great player but give me john mcenroe any day.
Re: Re: Sachin the Lord's
by C M on Jul 26, 2011 09:42 PM
Get ur facts straighjt first and then dare compare ...Cricket is a team sport there is no such thing as "single handedly"... If u were Windian you would have said Richards blew the world cup final 1983 or Lara never won cup etc etc ...They both were great players problem was not with them Problem is with ppl like you...
Re: Re: Sachin the Lord's
by jayakumar kumar on Jul 26, 2011 07:14 PM
be practical man! sachin might have scored tons of runs, but that magic is missing. out of dravid's 33 test centuries india has lost only 2 one of which is the lords test and the other one against bangladesh. have got nothing against sachin but to put him ahead of indina cricket is a bit disappointing.
Re: Re: Re: Sachin the Lord's
by taklu on Jul 26, 2011 07:23 PM
you are right, but that other loss from dravid's centuries came against zimbabwe (not bangladesh)
Re: Re: Re: Re: Sachin the Lord's
by jayakumar kumar on Jul 26, 2011 07:25 PM
oops, but not much difference between bangladesh and zimbabwe expect in the name!

Can you count how many other Indian batsman also scored Century in the same Match? One hand never make noise, I know in many of those other Indian batsman scored centuries, but look when he alone made century and we lost, classic example perhaps an eye opener and here Dravid himself to blame for put down 4 Catches
Lord's is no more the home of cricket. Its Eden Garden's Kolkatta which is home to cricket,Time had moved dear friend, Lord's is no more then just another cricket ground
Re: Lord resides in Eden not in London
by S Shrikanth on Jul 26, 2011 07:12 PM
Don't belittle the awesome knock of Rahul Dravid, at the same groud the master blaster could go beyond 37 even after many appearances.
Re: Re: Lord resides in Eden not in London
by Senthil on Jul 26, 2011 07:46 PM
Well ofcourse after he dropped 4 Catches and get the return favour being dropped twice
In a princess Diana Memorial match where great players from all over the world were divided into two teams and made to play in that match and Sachin scored 125 runs. I watched that match live.
Who the heck cares if that is an exhibition match. Century is a century and Sachin scored this century against a bowling attack that has the likes of McGrath, Donald, Kumble, Srinath.
I m sure he will play at lords in 2013 for Test Championship Final (ICC considering to make that match as Timeless test). That would be his last chance IMO, He would be 40 but he would be still playing Test cricket that time for sure, perhaps that would be his last Test match
Guys, cricket is a team sport. And while Sachin may be the greatest batsman, he is not a match winner or a match saver. That job is done by the Dravids and the Laxmans and the Bevans of the world

Reply to logic by logic, my dear idiot. Tell us the great innings SRT has played that have saved or won a test match
Re: Re: Re: great?
by Senthil on Jul 26, 2011 07:10 PM
His First ever century in Manchester when he is just 19 years old Saved the Test match for India, that Score came in the 4th Innings.
His 103 at Chennai in 2008
His Double Century and Fifty not out against Aussies in Bangalore recently, there are so many scores to name and this are very few.

when sachin enter into groud for batting 25000 people stand up and clapped including engish fans. but being as indian u r shouting here u fool.
Re: Re: great?

Sachin fans have the habit of demeaning the success of other fellow Indian cricketers and and the team's success.

Thank you Sir/Madam. BTW, there are people here who are creating countless and posting for and against their own comments and reporting others comments as abusive when they are in fact not abusive.

I agree. Calcutta's Eden Gardens is the Mecca of Cricket. Have you seen such a population in the ground as in Eden Gardens. BST
