aus 2007

We lost 2 tests to Aus in 2007 because Dravid's partner was Wasim Jaffer who is equally slow batsman. in Melbourne, we were 18 for no loss after 17 overs. But here Gambhir scores relatively quickly.(Dont compare with Sehwag, it is quite brisk pace)
So Dravid & Gambhir opening not a bad option. Definitely better than Mukund opening.
Laxman at no 3. Sachin at 4. Next would be the 2 left handers. Dhoni should come 1 rank above to break the 2 left handers sequence.

Prashant:

Gambhir is a specialist opener but Dravid wont allow him to score freely and wont rotate strike. he just blocks evrything. Dravid is unfit to be opener.

Luckily for India you are not a selector Mr Nice Guy. otherwise you would never allow Dravid to play. But as far as my memory goes
Dravid has contributed heavily when ever India won any match outside India. Failures are very rare.Who has such patience to play for the entire day against a tough bowling attack like he did in Calcutta along with another great VVS. So called god of cricket miserably failed when it really matters.Dravid is one player who is always available to play because he is the fittest.Remember when Sachin was asked to bat lower in ODIs? Dravid never complained against such things. For him Team always comes first. Imagine everybody plays like Sehwag and Gayle.Team can score 400 for no loss in a day OR 100 allout in 20 overs and the test will be over with in 2 days.Test cricket is not about speed. It is about technic and skill combined with patience.Thankfully there is still no one to beat Dravid in those virtues. You will only realise the value of such great player after his retirement.Just like Aussies realised their mistake after leaving Warne when he is still doing great.

y not the so called "god" tendlya should open the inningse and solve all team india problems..???
y it is allways dravid must handle the tough and delicate batting situations for team india...???
y tendulkar refuses to cope with batting order and team needs...??
y cant he himself come and bat at no.3 position for team india..??
why allways dravid..??
since tendlyaa played more than 400 one dayers as an opener..!!!!
let him handle this challenging opening position in "test cricket"...
let him play for "team needs" as an opener....play for the best interest of the team rather than his batting position....
can he do this...???
ofcourse not....
dravid is there for rescue team india at no.3
tendlya is for scoring "his 100's"...

Yuvaraj is a better bowler that Raina
by mk seshadri on Jul 14, 2011 12:37 PM

Since Dhoni has to opt for 3 pacers it is better that he takes Yuvaraj who any day is a better bowler.Incase he wants to opt for 2 spinners he can take Mishra

by nice guy on Jul 14, 2011 12:32 PM  | Hide replies

Test win will be a dream..forget series win.
Remember he opened in Aus in 2007
We lost both tests.
Dravid supporters realize this.

Test match is not about hitting boundaries ! U r criticizing the best technical batsmen in the world (World says it)!
Look at the footwork, the straight drive, the defense, and how about his square cut.
Let us not criticize our own team mate buddy ! Cheer for every one . Team India Rock .
BTW i like every one in the Indian team (esp sehwag\'s batting) but each of them has their own way! If sehwag plays it aggressive, dravid play\'s it in his own way, if every ones plays like viru their is no way going further isnt it? Conclusion is \"Team India is the mixture of every thing only why it is the best team in the WORLD\". Let us not criticize anyone !
Regards.

It happens only in India that the second highest rungetter of all time is questioned about his position.Suggest one player who can replace Dravid at no 3.

But blind followers dont agree..they still want him even though his past record shows that hes done. We want players who should keep in mind the result of game..not just playing for himself.

well at least blind dravid followers can show his past record...

blind sachin followers cannot even show past record....

at least dravid laxman have showed that they can win matches for india or save matches for india....

sachin can show only his total runs and total centuries he has scored for indian...

blind sachin followers want to take him for that records only....

performance under difficult conditions?....ZERO...

dravid scores slowly, yes...but at least he scores...

same cant be said of sachin...his followers seem to think that sachin scores at sehwag's pace when the truth is sachin can also be as slow as dravid...he has done that many times....

Everybody put mud on dravid saying he is slow and evrything else...but when ever India needs something...they will go to dravid t say 'you should open..you should come after when there is a fall down...'...why no one going for sachin who used to be a opener...why not laxman..who started his career as an opener...

Since u got a man who is ready to through all his reputations for the cause of the team..who doesnt mind about himself if someone else is batting weel...u spit on him...Good good...

The best team man India ever had is not sachin it is Dravid no doubt....

Since Shewag wont be there in first 2 tests, Dhoni could ask Dravid to open and include both Raina & Yuvi. Whoever performs better will continue when Shewag is back

Yeah.... Mukund is a passenger who is going to visit England on a vacation, right? Idiot! On any tour, you have to play only specialist openers unless you have a Sehwag in your ranks (Sehwag is now a specialist opener).

But who will play at 3? I think Dhoni should promote himself up in the order. Laxman is good at 5, we need him in lower middle order.

Dhoni against swinging ball is useless. With in next 2 years India will get rid of Dhoni unless the so called media guys do some dirty batting for him. No technic no foot work.Awkward looking shots. He is suitable to ODIs only.In test matches he is fortunate enough to have all his batsman in form for all tests and Zaheer in the peak of his art. That is doing things for him.A great captain is the one who leads from the front.Given his reputation as a hitter he should have come to batting in the third test in west indies to have a go at the target eventhough it is impossible to get it on last day @more than 4RPO.But he chose to send VVS.That simply tells you the story about his greatness. It is ok to settle for a draw and series win but he should have come at no5 and try. It is still hard to get run a ball in test match where shortpitch stuff is allowed and wides also can be bowled. But not coming forward to give a try put him in his true light.
