though i am a fan of sachin, he shouldnt be selected because he says playing for country is more imp than anything else but plays in IPL and skips WI tour..

he did right. He shoould play against team like SA, Aus, Eng, SLK, NZL & in IPL. No need to play against weaker team. For team like WI, Bng, kenya, pak etc player of dhoni caliber should only play

Sehwag better than Sunny? ha ha ha.He is a sitting duck on bouncy wickets.And McGrath was below Ambrose ..leave alone Marshall and Holding.What is that chucker doing at 10? We had a lot of great spinners with legitimate actions over the years i guess :)

Macho is said to be the best fast bowler ever.. he should have been in the team straight away.He was one of the most successful fast bowlers in the sub continent as well.And Holding and Ambrose scores over McGrath anyday .. Holding had the ability to bowl at over 90 mphs even at the fag end of the day ..

Agreed, Sehwag has scored runs including triple hundreds mainly on dead subcontinental pitches and against medicore attacks of current generation. I doubt if he would have been as successful as Sunny was against the West Indies renouned battery of pace attack on their picthes as what Sunny could manage in 1971 which is one of the highest scores record in a test series even till date.

You mean to say that akhtar, deyl steyn, mcgrath, wasim akram, waquar younis were ordinary bowlers whom sehwag faced? His debut century was in south africa on a bouncy pitch. And for your info, sehwag has scored on all pitches and in all conditions all over world. Just check the records. Just as sehwag did not get to face marshal and co, sachin too did not face any of them. So would u say sachin too is no good? Again, if i remember correctly, west indies in 1971 had bernard julien and others who were not as fearsome as in the mid and late seventies when they had marshall, roberts, holding, garner.

Gavaskar also hit century against marshal, holding etc in 1983 home series against WI just after wcup. He scored one century in 94 balls- it was fasted that time by any indian. Also scored double century. gavaskar has scored runs against like of marshal, holding, roberts, imran,botham, lille, thomson,hadlee etc. U have to agree those days fast bowler operating in pair & itwas much more difficult to face. Other than gavaskar entire india team used to struggle. U can iamagine his quality. Scoring 774 runs in overseas series in 1st series itself is not a joke (that also in WI). See how present yuongster dhoni, vijay, raina, kohli, mukune struggled in WI present series even against b grade bowling
Nice guy- ignore comments of mental sunil vaidya & other regional supporters who are diverting topic. It is a hard known fact that any true sports fan who likes sachin also like other great players like VVS, Dravid,Kumble & sehwag. But for sure no true sports fan like medicore dhoni who is hyped only by mental & political fans like sunil vaidya, hypocrite,varun etc. Ass of mental vaidya is itching as his godfather & choker dhobiji not even fit to be shortlisted among wicketkeeper batsman. Dhoni didn't find place even in ICC dream ODI team(present) which was selected just after wcup 2011. Three indian players sachin, yuvi & zaheer find the place in same. As per mental gupta ji- Most successful test team of WI in 1970-1980's & Aus in 1990-2000 was captained by dhobiji. Dhobiji will not be selected as even toilet cleaner in those champion teams which ruled test cricket for about a decade. They used to wash th opposite team with margin of 5-0 ruthlesly. Not like piddi & coward dhoni who is so defensive that not bale to take risk even B grade team of WI & happy to win series by margin of 1-0 agaisnt team like WI & NZL. Couldn't even win series against SA & SLK as series was drawn. Present no.1 ranking is just a number & not a reflection of true chamion side. Yes we have champion players like sachin, sehwag, dravid, laxman, kumnle,z aheer etc which make India a very strong side irrespective of who is the captain

With due respect to Gavaskar, Gordon Greenidge actually an ideal partner for Boycott in his place for opening slot. Others are definitely deserve their place.

Sunny was better than Boycott.. and Shane warne for Murli ... his feats will always have the cloud of chucking around that :).And Holding is any day better bet than Mcgrath.
What ever dream team will be finalised there will be always second dream team and that team will beat the first one. The reason is in last 2000 test matches so many greats have played that it is difficult to choose 11 only. the only diff I see if we make 2 team is Don Bradman he can play in one team only so that team might have an edge rest all 10 player can be matched by other 10 player of second team.
