Not an elite umpire
by Jairam Amrith on Jul 08, 2011 06:36 AM

Harper and DeSilva had already been taken off the elite list because of their poor performance, so why was Harper appointed to umpire this series and why is India being made the scapegoat for Harper's "martyrdom" ?

Logart out of his mind
by Sachin Adhikari on Jul 08, 2011 12:09 AM

Is it fair that he gives incorrect decisions and destroys somebody's career ? Mr Logart why do you have this feeling for Harper when the 4% mistakes he made are enough to ruin an entire series. Also was it not correct on India's part to protest or should they have accepted every thing as in the past with their mouth shut ?

Trust the tech or accept human blunders
by sunder iyer on Jul 07, 2011 11:53 PM

Indians must trust either the machine or the human. Since they have publicly rejected UDRS indians should not complaint about umpiring errors whether deliberate or otherwise.Machines are unbiased and are more than 90% accurate and hence they should trust it.

Now they are after Dhoni's life

After dhoni's critisism of harper, some goras(read oz's, english & some s.africans) has constant feeling of burning in their back holes and can't bear it unless some punishment put on Dhoni, that is why this slow over rate issue arise. Form now on you will see this kind of small issues to harass dhoni, but our captain cool will win over this.

96%?
by Pran Ven on Jul 07, 2011 11:05 PM  | Hide replies

They keep talking about 96% for Harper but I wonder how they arrived at that percentage. I think it is the ration of the number of correct decisions made to the total # of decisions made? That would mean that even if a frivolous appeal was turned down, that would increase the % of Harper. Someone should teach th ICC folks Maths....What would be better to know is the comparison of number of incorrect decisions made by Harper versus the other umpire.

Right on money Pran. Basically ICC wants to make rule for Asian Countries only. Some white people still thinks that they still ruled the world, need big k#i#ck on their back to smell the reality.

Daryl Harper loves india
by ACN on Jul 07, 2011 11:04 PM

Daryl is a man, who has special affection for Indian Culture and Indians. It' true that he made 3-4 mistakes, which unfortunately was against India. But being his final test, this could have been ignored or low profiled.

What happened is sad...

Record of Other Umpires
by sanil serial on Jul 07, 2011 10:46 PM

Can we please have other Umpires record against India ? Better to have a comparative study, instead of wild accusations and biased support. But that may be asking too much probably.

DRS implementation is faulty
by A Rajendran on Jul 07, 2011 10:30 PM

Cricket is a weird game. In the recent world cup, this so called DRS was used and there were a few bad calls even there. Particularly strange is the rule that the umpire's decision stands even if he is wrong if the ball was pitched at a particular distance from the batsman. Why have DRS then?

As for Harper, the Indians could have been a bit more magnanimous. As it is, with all these tantrums, they could soon become the most unloved team in the world, the way the Aussies were at their peak.
