Absolutely right decision
by punnamaraju janardhanarao on Jan 27, 2011 07:30 PM

If any stadium is not ready and if there are any risks for the safety of viewers it should not be allowed and i feel the decision of ICC is absolutely right. I still remember the Vidarbha Cricket Association stadium during India & Newzealand match, one of the stands collapsed and 12 persons were dead which included one of my dear friend's sister.

Yet again, we see an executive from a so-called 'international' committee make negative comments about Indias(and one of worlds) best stadium and in fact has gone as far as to shift the game! Didnt we all see what happened during CWG, which was a roaring success, despite attempts by the western media to show things in the most negative light possible? The thing is India faces huge problem on the infrastructure front, and may not be in a position to meet deadlines. How can something still a month away not be ready? What matters is we Indians get the work done at the end of the day! Hope the bcci acts soon.

Only media reports of shifting the match was now available.
The standards and specification to be met for a Match in ground/stadium is not known to many.
All we sports loving buffs can do is just wait for the cup matches to start, anywhere.

We can do do the last minute work if we are hosting national games or ranji tournament. The international ones need a plan and we have to adhere to that plan. Both these CWG and Cricket has marred Indian's ability to host events.

Are you nuts? The stadium is just NOT ready, in plain sight for everyone to see. The Emperor truly is naked and has no clothes.

What is anti-India about this? If India were a smaller country, no one would even bother visiting, let alone stage a tournament..

Nisha Thoas:

Anti-India "bias"?
Did you take a look at the statidum's picture above?

Same thing happened in CWG too. If the Army hadn't diligently worked day and night, your roaring success would have been coming from somewhere else..

In fact, did we NOT learn ANYTHING from CWG? Apparently not.

And we NEVER shall; given the attitude you just demonstrated. i.e. let us complete the statium AFTER the match is finished... ;-)

Hyderabad should have at least one game
by chatrapathi chennam on Jan 27, 2011 07:07 PM  | Hide replies

I don't know why Hyderabad is not alloted a single game. The Stadium is with world class facilities and best dressing rooms in India and a state-of-the-art facility. Recently we had test match also.May be, this is all politics in board and not having strong support for Hyderabad.

Coz we never know when Telangana movement will call for a bandh and city will come to standstill. so no games in hyderabad until Telangana is created or the issue is put to rest.

Hyderabad is not getting matches due to unstable political situation which has rise due to the 'Telangana conflict'
That was the reason last year why even the IPL home matches for Deccan chargers were held in other cities and states

its the shame of India, not just Bengal. moment you come out of that narrow regionalism sentiment you will see the bigger picture.
along with CAB, BCCI is equally responsible. anyways i am not surprised by the decision, kolkata was in the mercy of commies, now mamata.. it will degrade further.. next time people wont even consider Eden as a WC match venue.
Btw, CWG took place in Delhi not Bengal.
