Ignore Eden.. CAB is pathetic.
by Narayanan Mahalingam on Jan 28, 2011 10:08 AM

These bums had enough time to get the stadium fixed. Look at the Chepauk stadium in Chennai. They have worked in a planned fashion and remodelled the stadium and got it right.
Let Eden go without an India match. Let the jokers stew in their own juice

Deja Vu
by Rohit Vyas on Jan 28, 2011 04:29 AM

Not a surprise to me that Eden Garden is not upto scratch and its Deja vu Commonwealth Games in Delhi last year. Don’t know what it is : Being lazy, Lethargic ,sheer incompetence or its our typical Indian mentality of leaving work till the last and hoping for a miracle to happen.

Blame game has already started- BCCI blaming ICC for the delay but hello is it not the responsibility of the host nation or board and government to certain extent to make sure that things are done on time and we always end up making a lauging stock of ourselves on International stage.

Been living in New Zealand for the past years now and seeing how things are done here astonishes me . New Zealand is gearing up for Rugby World Cup in Oct 2010 and all the renovations to the stadium were compeleted last year and all the venues are up and running 10 months before the tournament and new stadium in Dunedin work started mid 2010 and is due for completion in May 2011. Should we be not taking a leaf out of New Zealand ‘s book

No compromise
by Sajit Kumar on Jan 28, 2011 01:36 AM

There should be no compromise. The venue is unfit for hosting any WC game. It should be removed from hosting any game altogether.
It is another matter though that Mumbai and other Sri Lankan venues are equally unfit to host any game .

What a shame...
by Junior Shelly on Jan 27, 2011 11:46 PM  | Hide replies

Arguably the greatest and the largest cricketing venue in India is facing humiliation due to incompetence of the CAB, and ultimately the BCCI. What a shame..!!!
This even more shocking because, all of us know what all chaos prevailed before the recent Commonwealth Games. It is disgusting how the authorities are hell bent on defaming the country.

I will not go and see if it is India-Ireland or India-Netherland match. What a compromise? I think we spectators should boycott going to the stadium if it is not India-England match.

Greatest cricketing venue in India? That's a new one to me! Is that why the match between India and Sri Lanka had to abandoned?

If everybody wants to watch the cricket match and noboy wants to work this is what happens. Why blame the BCII. They gave Kolkatta a chance .. bongo-commies failed. So it is moved to B'lore. Just like Nano went to Gujarat.

Up yours...
by Jay on Jan 27, 2011 11:26 PM  | Hide replies

All I can do is give a big middle finger salute to the incompetent d**ks at the ICC and the BCCI. Shame on you all !!! you have just unleashed the biggest euphoria amidst Bengali cricket fans. I hope that old basstard Dalmiya isn't crucified or burnt at the stake for his impotency. India vs England ? WOW ! what a mouth watering prospect that would have been?!

India as a country need to be ashamed of themselves for being slow and non-productive. I wonder what condition the other stadiums are in. As an NRI it hurts me deeply to see tabloids and foreign journalists tear away at our country's image. Even the pathetic Sri Lankans, Bangladeshis and Pakistanis have started the hollering all thanks to the ICC and BCCI.

I swear to God.. the ICC has failed to be of credit yet again. It's a failed unit and it's time cricket was run by the individual boards. We don't need some old monkeys sitting in Dubai deciding how the game ought to be run. F**k all them !!!

ICC wants to embarass India
by Gurjot Singh on Jan 27, 2011 10:44 PM  | Hide replies

ICC is no longer in control of cricket, India is. Since it cannot do anything about this fact, they are just trying to embarrass us to get even. we have hosted WC before and we will have everything in order. I am more worried about Bangladesh failing to deliver. they should strip them of the matches and award them to India. We have no shortage of venues and tourist facilities.

@Gurjot:
Typical Indian mentality...
What the heck can the ICC do when the local authorities cannot give it an assurance on when the ongoing construction works would be completed.
Dude...we are talking about the World Cup. Its not a local tournament.
