Eden is getting ready for the IPL not for the WC. This is a huge negative mark for the spirit of cricket. And the same speaks about the internal democracy of the country. Truely a disappointing negligence by the authorities. First the CWG and now the WC. The embarrasement continues for our country.

IPL does not require that much preparation as the world cup needs. For ICC it was more important that their media box, sponsor stadium seats and other specific to their needs are ready within time otherwise ICC looses money.

Hope people from Kolkata, who are sometimes very biasedly reported as people from a city of bandhs, raise to the occasion and really take on the bureaucracy for this failure.
They would become a great example for the rest of the nation.
The venue still under construction reflects the nation's progress. It is waving to the world for a lift which is still without its own vehicle. Its a devastating statement to the nationand the world. The hosts of the circket world cup, is it a shame or a pride? speaks on its own.
In any construction jobs there must be some schedule and same should be followed strictly. If any delay is there in any perticular job that should be reveiwed on weekly basis and prompt and proper action should be taken to make up the delay. Eden is having flood light, 24 hours jobs could have been done. Construction jobs were going on in vast area, there was no problem to engage 100s man power to complete the jobs in scheduled time. I am unable to understand why it could have not be done. why? WHY? AND WHY?
rotten countries like sri lanka and bangladesh have finished stadium works long month ago. and so called richest board BCCI cant give money to bengal association?corruption everywhere in india its shows.indian cricket stadium sucks no infrastructure or good Fed lights to host D/N matches.......
CAB should have takrn more care to see Kolkata does not loose the oppurchunity to hold the Match, Govt and CAB should say sorry to genuine Bengal fans who always keep Eden Full, Govt should hold an enquiry and spot the reasons, for the delay,
This is negligency and un professional approach shown by CAB. We know the Dalmiya has always been a favoured consumer of GOWB. The Ministry of Sports of GOVT of West Bengal should have interferred in this matter well before but they are now an ICON OF FAILURES. The GOVT OF WEST BENGAL cannot pass on the Batton to CAB only for this failure. SHAME SHAME.
There look to be many shades between BLACK and WHITE.Me and few of our friends have had a close look at the preparation at Eden Garden on the the fateful Day of decision making as we too had a close look at Wankhare Stadium few days back. The only difference between the two was the date of the first game happen to be few weeks later than at Eden otheerwise there is not much of great preparation in Mumbai.I did hear Mr Gautam Bhattacharjee the great sports journalist of ABP but is humbly differ with him on that point. There is no doubt that CAB should have woke up earlier than what they did ultimately. But by no account Eden Garden should have been denmied of the 27th Feb match on purely Cricketing ground.Mr Gautam Bhattacharjee is however correct to point out the EGO between the CAB and the ICC WHITE MEN who started asking for SKY ignoring the compulsion in reality. The point they have raised if true are flimsy and can be shorted out in minute but asking for extra favouir which these WHITE men could never have asked for in their soil made it difficult for CAB. I CAN CERTAINLY SAY THAT IT WAS OTHER THAN CRICKETING REASON THAT EDEN GARDEN LOST THE 27TH FEB MATCH.WHO IS GOING TO TELL THESE WHITE FELLOWS "INDIA IS NO LONGER A SLAVE NATION" WHY THERE WAS NO REPRESENTETIVE FROM SRI LANKA,PAKISTAN WHO COULD HAVE MADE PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT AND THE DECISION WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT.MR PAWER PLEASE WAKE UP AND TAKE THE DECISION ON FACTS AND NOT ON FICTION.W

Instead of finding others fault why dont we look into our innerself. Why do we care in what other position the other stadium are? Why did not we finish the work way ahead? After all its 8 years before it was decided that World cup is going to happen in India and Eden being a well known ground is sure to host important matches...
Lets not criticize and compare with others and try to mend our own business. Its really sad for the sports loving people of Kolkata..

I am sorroy. You are not correct. It was only in 4yrs time but the venue is decided by the national board(BCCI) later.I am more than certain and do have evidence to show "NON CRICKET PLAYED" greater role than Cricketing merit to change ther venue from Eden.If I were Mr Dalmia I would have finished the completion on 7th Feb and invited world media and expert like Former cricketer to judje by themself and make a decision.I have been to Mumbai but none will touch it as Mr Power is the ICC President. Why Mr Loagard and Tetly came why not Mr Imran Khan,Mr Sunil Gavaskar. Mr Ian Bootham,Sir Viv Richard to comment on Cricketing matter Mr Kake without knowing facts I would not have ventured in any comment.I know what I am talking.
