Go India!!
by RJP on Jan 24, 2011 08:51 AM

Even though we lost the one-day series in SA, this was the best performance by an Indian team in SA so far, more so without Sehwag/Gambhir/ST. The bowlers did a good job, while very few batsmen performed in the one-dayers(Kohli/Yusuf). The biggest failure of them is the captain. His performance in the test and one day matches was un-captain like. Looking at the way he played (and got out to silly shots), it felt as Dhoni is concentrating on his acting rather than batting. The total time he stayed at the crease in this tour was considerably less than the amount of time we see him on TV in various advts!!! Guess it wud b a gr8 idea of having the concept of non-playing captain (a.k.a. Davis cup), and let Dhoni warm the benches, so that he spends more time in doing stuff that does best (acting), and allow one more batsman in the playing eleven!!

Darwin,

good stuff from yusuf.

Yusuf should have attempted a 4 on the ball from morkel or just blocked the ball when he go out due to fielders moving towards boundary.

bad stroke selection by kohli and dhoni and raina.

there was no need for Rohit to twist or angle.

Rohit got out to a straighter ball because he went across the line when there was no need to go across line to hit or angle his body to a straighter ball.

and the ball was slow at 126 km/hr, he could even hit it T20 style in a natural way.

Dhoni applied no technique, but he looks tired and drained, needs rest.

whatever excellent efforts by Yusuf was undone by himself as he should have preferred 1-2s as balls were more than required runs. When these players will learn this skill.

Take this as game man.. and give credit that to Yusuf for what he did yesterday.. but, yes... Morkel was not a right choice to go.. he must restrain himself atleast for him... but over all a great game.. i thurughly enjoyed it.. and SA are deserved winners...

dhoni want to prove the playboy yuvraj is better allrounder than pathan.yusuf thats why this stupid captain (atleast from this series point of view) not give as many overs to yusuf in last 2 matches as did to playboy.this selfish capt try to play raina in place of yusuf in WC but failed.this idiot always says about indian pitches are not as good as SA but yusuf performance may shutup the mouth of dhoni.Even after this heroic performance of yusuf he may not play in WC11 if he may not bat in first few games of WC( HOPE NOT SO) as there is conflict among playboy, raina, konli, yusuf to be part in 11 and this stupid capt always prefer first 3 idiots.also i say form is same at all places.i am in doubt these failers in this sereis are play well in WC(hope not so). I will say this even i am a big fan of dhoni before this series.

Indian Team
by Dilip Mahanty on Jan 24, 2011 04:46 AM  | Hide replies

The ODI loss to SA,while disappointing, is not the end of the world.Without many of the key players out due to injuries the young team did reasonably well in alien conditions and lively wickets. In contrast, barring Kallis, SA was in full strength and had home condition advantage!.
Certain weaknesses in the Indian team however cannot be ignored. It had flat wicket bullies like Yuvraj,Raina and Rohit Sharma were out of their depth in more hostile surroundings. While Yuvraj has a place in the side as a bowler cum hitter(when batting lower down), Raina & Sharma have let the team down. Raina hops around like a cat on a hot tin roof when facing pace.Sharma, who looked so promising a few years ago,has neglected his technique and looks vulnerable.Murli Vijay who has displayed good technique at times does not seem to be consistent. Nehra is unpredictable.Sometimes he bowls like a dream and at other times he gives away runs like a millionaire. His fielding is terrible.Dhoni has been a disappointment with the bat.He batted ok in the Test series but has not contributed in ODIs. Hope it is a temporary phase!
Virat Kohli looked the most impressive and has a great future.Pathan, inspite of his shortcomings against pace, was courageous and defiant. Hope he keeps up the good work. Parthiv Patel showed good application and skill against SA pacemen and showed his more "illustrious" team mates how to play pace.
Selectors should look at these issues!

But I think dropping Vijay was a mistake as He is a better opener albeit being inconsistent. I think Vijay should have been in this match with Parthiv.

Exactly. This is what i have been saying. He hasnt got as many chances as rohith. and he has played test cricket and didnt score well but did ok to take the shine of the new ball. ALso Rohith not just his low scores his stays in the middle need to be analyzed that he doesnt belong here. He doesnt give any confidfence.

Why do people even talk abt Rohith Sharma.. when was he ever good., he doesnt belong here. Please he shud not even be in a 30 man squad. He is such a crap. Tell me one good innings he has played in ODI. Even in subcontinent he is crap. He is not even a Flat Track bully

Yusuf made ranji bowlers out of SA. Dhoni needs rest
by E darwin on Jan 24, 2011 04:42 AM  | Hide replies

angled balls from Tsotsobe and pace of morkel were broken by Yusuf. be it defense or hit on backfoot or frontfoot, yusuf was doing well.

tendulkar and sharma, why not angle your body to face angled balls?
that way your bat moves in line with ball.

if not for dhoni bad decision on getting Chawla, india will win.

time for pathan to review his game and celebrate.

review the ball where he almost had morkel for 6 but got out. because SA will review.

ALL THE SA BOWLERS WILL Be sulking, they lost to YUSUF. So will dhoni.

as he does usually.

GOOD fight, dhoni rose in SA, now he flopped in SA

time for dhoni to rest.

yusuf made Tsotsobe and morkel and styn look like ranji bowlers

...
add botha and peterson to it, du plessis was scared to bowl to him.

yusuf could not be captured and jailed by SA bowlers

good stuff.

yusuf did very well, infact dhoni cannot celebrate on yusuf hard work

yusuf proved T20 can work after being defensive to begin ...

rohit and yuvi proved that he should play T20 style or should get trained to be Amla.

Stop asking such quession

My Take Contd
by Indranil Chowdhury on Jan 24, 2011 01:33 AM  | Hide replies

1. Suresh – Probably the most disappointing figure. Incompetence against good fast bowlers has been exposed, fell playing the same shot 3 times out of 5 which proves somebody should be around to slap him once a while. Somebody needs to work with this dude for discipline and make him work hard on techinque and better performances in future. Not fit for WC.
2. Dhoni – A complete idiot and incompetent. Someone save us from him. He should be ousted immediately and settle down with his wives and Pepsi Airtel and Adidas ads.
3. Pathan – A true warrior with the bat, performed heroically. His big heart, work-rate and brilliant shot-making overcome shortcomings in his technique. Should be in first 11.
4. Parthiv – poor little fella, should have been there from beginning and more encouraged, will replace MSD in future.
5. Zaheer – brilliant show.
6. Munaf – good accurate bowling, hero of the 2nd ODI.
7. Ashish – inaccurate, tried hard to support Zaheer without success. Should be replaced with an accurate bowler like Praveen Kumar to compete the likes of Morkel on the other side.
8. Harbhajan – turned in consistent performances although not at his best.
9. Piyush – the mystery man was apparently chosen for his abilities with the bat along with the ball. That ability with the bat was very well exposed in the last ODI. Not fit for the WC.

we can we see how much we depend on top three - sachin, sehwag and gambhir. looking at triangular in aus where sachin score 100 to ensure india doesn't make mess of target of 256. similar gambhir could have taken the team thru in 250's score. sehwag quick 50 woud have tilted it once for all in india favour. dhoni, raina, rohit there cannnot guide the inning.

My take on player performances
by Indranil Chowdhury on Jan 24, 2011 01:32 AM  | Hide replies

Some expert said that the Indian batting line-up for the WC is a dream. The truth emerged just before the WC – this batting is incompetent, inconsistent and fails infront of genuine fast bowlers as ever. The player performances analyzed:
1. Murali : Complete failure, rightly thrown out of squad.
2. Rohit : Complete failure, rightly thrown out of squad.
3. Sachin : The hunger is gone, did not perform. There are great sportspersons who till very late performed at high level at every given opportunities, this great man is still at a high level but runs away at every opportunity.
4. Kohli : Produced two good innings, only hope left in batting but needs to get his act right before Morne Morkel.
5. Yuvraj : Total failure, only a pale shadow of the fantastic batter of yesteryears, bowled okay part-time. Problems – many, many. Fitness , form, booze, ego , women, media, IPL etc etc, and no solution. Was already dropped for a few months and will surely disappear after WC unless some miracle happens. For now we have to bear with this pain till the end of WC.

you wanted sachin to risk his injury --- world cup needs him more than bilateral series. it gave so called young blood chance and they failed. why you are not complaining about sehwas and gambhir. they all want to be fresh and fit to ensure they play in wc.
