Analysis.....
by Anurag Rathore on Jan 24, 2011 09:45 AM  | Hide replies

SA deserved the victory. SA was btter ODI side than India. India was short of some regular players like Sachin, Gambhir, Sehwag and P.Kummar. So result was not unexpected. India fought well throughout the series.

Overall well done India. India levelled the test series first time in SA, won the T-20 sries and lost the OD series with close margin.

SA deserved or not, it is our Indian teams failure plus Dhoni's uninspiring captaincy. He promoted himself up the order, but couldnt do anything.
You always praise Dhonis Captaincy. (Putting Yusuf in a field position to take a catch etc)
But a 2-1 lead lost. Had SA 118/5 in 4th ODI and they had score 267. That sum up the Great Captaincy.

With the same captaincy SA was 118/5. We lost because of Yuvi, Dhoni and Raina's failure in batting department.

Promoting himself up was right decision but it didn't work yesterday. His only bad decision was playing with P.Chawla.

UTTER FAILURE BY THE TOP AND MIDDLE ORDER
by VAIDYANATHAN BALAKRISHNAN on Jan 24, 2011 09:42 AM

Dhoni has again ruined his chanaces of winning and thereby lost a series. His decision to bat second has backfired very bady. No batsmen showed their mettle. All of them were out for poor shots. Except Yousuf Pathan but the one man army did not have any able support.
IT IS HIGH TIME THAT ALL THE BATSMEN INCLUDING OUR CAPTAIN DHONY PULL THEIR SOCKS. THE NEXT IS WORLD CUP.

Atleast no Rohith for ever
by Sudarshan S on Jan 24, 2011 09:09 AM

Not just his series of poor scores, but if you see this guy's stay in the middle, he gives no confidence that one day he might come good. What a struggle he goes through in the middle. his stay in the middle clearly suggests that he doesnt belong here. Cross batted heaves, bringing his front foot across and getting entangled such a clear LBW candidate. On top of that shows dissent to the umpire for blatantly plumb LBWs (SL-NZ Triseries), many times he got two chances while batting as someone wud either drop his catch or like the one umpire saheba gave him not out agaisnst NZ. But he stilll doesnt capitalizes and gets out cheaply.Does he even deserve to be in a 30 man squad of india leave alone 15. What an utter waste. No wonder avgs 28 inspite of centuries agsint zimb.

Yes his captancy has been poor. In last match decision of chasing was disastrous. He was taking about pressure to handle & forgotten there is always additive pressure during batting second. Now he is taking more & doing advertisment only.

Right. How long we have to carry , virendra sehwag, gautam gam. & tendulkar who play only on indian pitches & don't want to expose ourselves on south Arica's bouncing pitches. At least dhoni has some courage & this low performing indian team has shown some light that S.A can be beaten at home.
This is not the first tour of indian team for south africa. Earlier tour has even worst story than this. At list we have some positives on this tour like Pathan & Virat.

:) Very well said.... If South Africa hadn't thrown 2 matches away, we wouldn't have had those positives... :)

Dhoni's courage too is admirable and his total of 14 (or whatever) runs helped us win the World Cup a full 2 months before time... :)
