Merit & Merit alone should be the reason for picking a player. On merit Ganguly is certainly a superior T20 player than Laxman. But he is not a team man and if he is not the captain he creates problems for the other players.

Proven basis of 3 years with KKR IPL. he brought misery to KKR even after being picked by KKR for handsome prices.

What were the strike rates of Kallis/Dravid/laxman and plenty of others in this auction bought for higher prices...?...go chk the figures b4 u comment...Also Dada was the highest scorer for KKR last season...what were the other batsmen in the team doing...busy getting out or posing for pics or partying or in worse case sucking SR_GAY's Boner...
without Dada KKR would not cross 120 in most matches...he has been the best performer for kolkata in 2 out of the 3 ipl seasons played so far in an otherwise rotten team...

he has had a history of problem with the coach ever since he refused to carry drinks as a 19 year old. As limited overs bastman no one can doubt that he is world class. As a captaim he brough belief in the side but his big ego is a problem if he is not the captain.
He is a real fighter & has taken the bull by its horns on several ocassions in the past , he is like a true boxer who steps back, balances himself & then delivers that deadly punch. Ask Chhappel, Bucchanan .
117 strike rate is not enough in t20. Showing he was top scorer is not enough. He was slow by t20 standards. KKR posted lowest totals in all seasons. KKR came 6th 7th and 8th in 3 ipls. Kolkota should be lucky it has a team, which has now swelled by inclusion of better t20 specialists.
Why does'nt Subroto Roy; a fellow bengali not take him in his team, if he is still good. And can he remain good for 3 more years until next auction.

my question is then find those players who had failed for KKR and get them out of it... not the player who had been in the Top 5 and was the MoM 90% of times KKR won a match :)

It is indeed very sad that a person Mr. Suurav Ganduly framed the Indian Cricket in today's form and the main scorer for KKR last season not picked up. What will be the viewership for KKR without Ganguly even they hire top class players by paper and by paying huge money???????????? Who will lead KKR from the front now?????
