He will become the whirlwind that he is. he will blow every indian and SRK in particular by his sheer force. he will hit 500 mtr sixes every ball he faces hence forth. he will take 10 runs by running where he just pushes the ball in defence. the score of the team he'll play for will never be less than 720(simple maths). come on guys get a life this is real ground, this is real sport not any rajnikanth movie. every player has its limitation and thats it. we all respect ganguly for what he has done for indian cricket but as a player he is surely a spent force. accept the reality.

Today's TOI Front Page news says IPL Kochi Team is trying to bid for Dada, but has to take 'no objection' from other franchisees as the period of auction is over. Perhaps Sujay is right

I am sure KKR must have informed Dada that they will not bid for him. Its upto an individual to take such risks. End of the day every one has to retire from cricket, its only a matter to taking the decision. Look at Kumble, he took his decision on captaincy, his role as indian player, IPL capatain and now even as a IPL probable player. Some how ganguly never make such a decision.

Than why are you so furious abot ganguly not bid? every body is fighting to earn as much as they can, even ganguly made himself available for bidding to get some extra. Now this is clear that ganguly made a grave mistake and should have understood that he'll not be picked by anybody. nothing is left in him as a player to offer but surely a lot as a mentor/coach etc. One should understand the writing on the wall, every stalwart no matter how big has an era of his/her own but after that is passed you muct embrace the reality.

because Mumbai Indians retained tendulkar and Royal challengers Dravid. Also both are active with Indian cricket team. an individual must know when the time has come to hang his boots.

Hindus are terrorists.
2G scam never happened.
CAG report is BS.
Kalmadiji actually donated money from his Personal funds to make CAG a success.
When Tata steel opened n the 1930's, the then British viceroy commented that if they ever,Tata steel succeeded in producing any steel, he would eat it. And he was right, Tata steel never prodiced any steel.
And the sun rises from the West.
And India will never be self sufficient in producing food grains as per US dept of Agriculture in 1968, and they were right too.India never succeeded in attaining self suffieciency.
Dada is not good enough!!

Hahahahahahahahaha!!

Now brothers, life is unfair, get on with life.
Dada is great, and he will get over it.So should you, BUT if you Dada lovers could do me a small favor, never see any SRK movie in a theatre.Just see pirated ones, and distribute his pirated movies, and try, if possible, to boycott KKR matches , not only at the Edens but also on TV. Insteaed adopt Mumbai or Cochin or Delhi or Bangalore or Chennai or Hyderabad teams.!!Just this small favor!!

Cheers!!

no takers for dada
by sunil on Jan 10, 2011 01:02 AM  | Hide replies

it is a shame that Dada has not been bid for. one would have thought that atleast Pune or Kochi would have opted for him. he is a great leader who is does not mess with words, is not a sycophant and wears his passion on the sleeve and perhaps the same is not acceptable to the franchises.
extremely disappointing.

Yes Dada if any shame left in him should take the extreme step and show the world that even he can do a suicide. he should jump from empire state building in the name of IPL. every bongoli brahmin should fast for him till next IPL this will reduce the extra fat they have accumulated and india will finally get rid of this moronic icon idol worship mania, where ordinaries are made GOD.

Indian premier league or Aussie premier league?
by Roy on Jan 09, 2011 08:38 PM  | Hide replies

Is this Indian premier league or Australian premier league? Dada the legend is not picked but retired Aussies like Gilchrist and uncapped local Aussie players get easily hired with top billing. Shame on India. A dark day for Indian cricket. Kolkata should boycott all KKR matches in Eden gardens and not buy any merchandise of the team.

Ganguly was a good player once maybe, but form changes for all player.

This article here,

Even amongst the runs he made in 2010, against quality bowling attacks he found the going tough. In the initial match against Mumbai, he made 31 off 34 balls - snail's pace in T20 cricket, while in the return match, with Mumbai resting Zaheer, Harbhajan and Malinga, he made 42 off 36. Against the Bangalore attack of Steyn, Kallis, Kumble and co, he made 23 off 22 and 33 off 32. Against Chennai when they had Bollinger, Ashwin and Murali he made 10 off 12. The fact is, those kind of strike-rates at the top of the order will harm team's chances of victory, even if runs are scored.

Fans may feel emotional about his omission, but they must remember that it was not just one franchise that rejected him - all ten did. And if all ten did, they clearly thought that he was not worth the money that they would have to shell out for him.

A decade ago, Sourav Ganguly would have probably fetched more than Gautam Gambhir did at the auction. He wouldn't even have been in the auction - he'd have been retained with his franchise willing to pay him whatever it took. Today, he found no takers. Sad? Undoubtedly so. Unexpected? Not really.

Ganguly should be in admin
by anush on Jan 09, 2011 07:50 PM

Instead of losing self esteem and dignity, Ganguly should try to be in the admin of Bengal Cricket to contribute towards it. No doubt he has done great service to Indian Cricket but I feel its time for him to call it a day and make way for youngsters. Cricket should not be run on emotion but performance. His age, fielding capability and attitude towards junior cricketers was also a factor. No one is above the team. Everyone is one among the equal.

Why such a fuss
by Sameer K on Jan 09, 2011 07:08 PM  | Hide replies

IPL is business and if a owner feels sum1 is a burden then why shud be buy the player.

Everyone knows Ganguly was not retained due to the problems he creates in the team. If he is bought by a franchise then he shud be made the captain, if he is not the captain he does a cry baby in media telling lies like he did when he was removed from KKR captaincy, he went on to say that he was not informed that he will not captain KKR in second edition. Immediately after this came in media, Buchanan clarified that not only he but even SRK had told him he would not be a captain and after this clarification, Ganguly did not utter a word about this. But created problems in the team. Also his playing dot balls created problems for batsmen at the crease and to follow.

Whats the use if a cricketer is not a team player? Why would any franchise want a egoist player inside their dressing room.

Every cricket player has to leave some time, some are earrly some soon.
Sometimes, it is not fair. But it is true that Ganguly is a legend of Bengal and he will be a lengend for the state.

Sourav Ganguly's omission did not fly in the face of cricketing logic, but it's likely to be the most controversial one. Keeping the controvery aside, from a cricketing stand-point, Ganguly's overall strike-rate during the last IPL - which was his best with the bat - was a very low 117.66 (run-rate - 7.06). He did score a lot of runs, but scoring runs is never independent of the speed of scoring in Twenty20 cricket, and having aged a year and being retired, it was always going to be tough for Ganguly to get picked. Moreover, he had raised his base price to the highest bracket of USD 400,000 and no franchise was willing to spend that much on what was at best a risky investement.
