While Steve Waugh and Mark Taylor were great captains, they had great assets in the team in the form of McGrath, Warne, Hayden, Langer, Slater, Gilchrist, Martyn, McGill, Gillespie etc. Both would have surely struggled to captain the current side to any sort of series victory. Australia's problem is that they had too many good players all at the same time and now there is a dearth.
