With a billion people on our side, beating China by 2015 on population, any statistics will belong to us. Highest population : India Highest Corruption : India Greatest Batsman : Sachin Greatest Bowler : Sachin (Agree to fans or else..)
Greatest fielder : Jonty Rhodes. (We have to show the presence of rest of the world.)
Put some Pakistani guys to masala our hatred...
There is your ICC recipe for a country which has no playground for kids but gives billions to 11 guys & 90000 crores to betting industry.

so what? so what if they are getting billions? They have talent for that and anyone who has it in him can ern billions! There are other sports and sportspersons also who are making millions and billions. If you have that talent in you...you too can make that much money, mate. I agree, there is corruption but then, you and me are also as much corrupt as others are!

Wibas Wibas:
Given that ODIs must have seen around 200 players by now; a lot many more seem to be missing; like Clive Lloyd; like Imran Khan; like Sanath Jayasuriya; like Dean Jones; like Martin Crowe; like so many others.... Even from the more recent era; you wouldn't have found Matthew Hayden, Andrew Symonds, Shahid Afridi, Yuvraj Singh, Kevin Pietersen, Ricardo Powell, etc. etc. etc...
So given that this was a public poll; the popular choices have already been picked; I'd say...

Instead of Waqar, it should be late Malcolm Marshall and instead of McGrath, the mighty Curtly Ambrose should be there.
How can u leave out Sachin Tendulkar, the highest scorer of ODI runs? Impossible,,,Steve Waugh should be out and so should Bevan. Lara and Ponting have the records and the aura as well.

Everyone will have their dream team. Nothing wrong in dreaming in your own way.

The Excellent Team,
Virender Sehwag Chris Gayle Jacques Kallis Ricky Ponting (c) Virat Kohli Shahid Afridi Brendon Mccullum Kevin Pollard James Anderson Graeme Swann Zaheer khan
Viru should have been Sanath instead ...He changed the face of the game with his ultra - destructive batting...Seems like the team is made by people with short memory
Re: Viru vs Sanath
by pup on Jan 05, 2011 10:47 PM
this team was selected on the basis of a public poll held recently....that is why 3 indians are there!!
Re: Viru vs Sanath
by vinay on Jan 05, 2011 11:49 PM
agreed with vikas n pup. public memory is definitely short n sees only the near past. further, more population of ind voters hv an impact on the results where ppl dont vote without bringing nationality in their mind.
Re: Viru vs Sanath

Viru is any day better than Sanath, far far far better entertainer and a more refined stroke player
Re: Re: Viru vs Sanath

It was sachin Tendulkar who change the face of game and started attacking as opener batsman, please check records of both the batsman(sachin and sanath) when they had started attacking as opener ,watchibg sachin`s attack vs newzeland Arjun Rantung(captain)promoted sanath as opener and he followed the same...

It was not Sachin who started the era of attacking opening batsman... Check performances of Srikanth, Mark Greatbatch and Gordon Greenidge much before sachin came onto the scene..

Another All time Great,Garry Sobers ofWI, a forgotten fig? He hit 6 sixers in a over, as I know nobody har surpassed so far, except in street play in India.

Difficult to leave out the impact of the Ambrose , Walsh , Thompson , Lillee , Bothom , ...and the list goes on...Its a tough task to carve out a team of 11
Re: Re: greatest cricketers ever
by pup on Jan 05, 2011 10:45 PM
well these are the names i put together based on their talent/averages/impact and longevity...of course its always debatable

Yes , you are right...it is always debatable . I just made a passing comment
Re: Re: greatest cricketers ever
by pup on Jan 06, 2011 02:04 AM
i would put richard hadlee below...mcgrath, murali, marshall and even allrounders like kallis, imran khan and botham....becaouse all these players had a major impact on their teams victories for a long period of time....whereas richard hadlee didn't win too many matches for newzealand.....
Re: Test Team and ODI Team intersection
by vikas bhardwaj on Jan 05, 2011 10:33 PM
And of course Murali , Mcgrath....Gosh!!! ...How do u make a team of 11
