Nikita:

If it was fixed, then I must admire the Perfectioninst players who participated in your gig; and I also must admire your precision in ensuring Everything worked exactly as it should have just like clockwork..

The EXACT edges, the EXACT moments to get out, the EXACT ways in which you instructed bowlers to bowl weak balls, but more importantly the EXACT precision with which even Shahzad (a tailender) hit that Six you asked him to... The placement was immaculate (how else could you ensure that EXACTLY one run would be scored on the very last ball of the 100 overs?)

I salute you, and only hope that our administrators in Government learn how to run things efficiently and very effectively... Great job!! :)
And proud to have watched this display of perfection at Bengaluru on Sunday!! :)

Dhoni can do better than yesterday!!!
by antony on Feb 28, 2011 06:40 PM  | Hide replies

dear dhoni...
we indian fans know that you can do better captaincy than yesterday's match(Vs Eng)
- 3rd powerplay should have taken after the sachin's wicket... (it was well understood that sachin was uneasy in his innings)
- being known for your nature of game (you can hit the ball after you are well set - atleast 10 to 20 runs), you should have let Yousuf Pathan to come ahead of you
- we realized it in the first 20 overs that the pitch is not assisting spinners, we should have made pathan to bowl some more overs...

anyway it is not too late...
lets correct ourself & come out as winners in this tournament...

Good analysis, Antony. One more major blunder by Dhoni-- keep atleast one over for Zaheer so he could bowl 49th. or, 50th.over instead of Piyush.

Antony:

;-)... Sachin was definitely very uneasy... hence only 5 sixes, else there would have been 20...
He was initially uneasy - granted (he had 10 runs from 22 balls), but later he opened up more than even Sehwag... the gap between runs and balls narrowed and eventually runs overtook balls.

I agree with your point about Pathan coming ahead of Dhoni, and will also add that Kohli should have come ahead of Yuvraj..

BTW, Pathan too is a spinner....

Why the Hullaboo? This match was Fixed!!!
by Hari on Feb 28, 2011 06:29 PM  | Hide replies

I do not understand why such a hue and cry is being raised? Guys this match was "Fixed". Please explain the reason for Indian not hearing Strauss's edge - TWICE, and the way Collingwood getting out. And the icing on the cake was the 3rd umpire's decision for Bell. This match was FIXED and so is the fact that India is WINNING this world cup! All FIXED!

i agree. also india win win like bollywood movies hero. they will get thrashed in begining so that people don't bet on them. finally they will lift wc. side advantage - bookies will make killings and sachin will score 50 one day hundreds and retire.

Hari:

:) If it was fixed, all the involved participants played their roles to perfection... Knowing EXACTLY how to bowl, how to exactly edge, exactly hit a six in the last over etc. etc...

We must all enjoy such perfectionist displays and hope that our governments can administer with such precision... :)

India needs to seriously think...
by Aman Khanna on Feb 28, 2011 06:15 PM

India needs to really rethink their strategy. If they cant defend 338 then what total will they defend???Stupid errors all around like zaheer running one short run, missing catches, no killer instinct in the bowlers, Munaf would have runout bresnan but he was so over confident that he didnt do it and many more....

Its easy to just sit at home and comment on the performance of our team. The players knows well the situation they are facing on the field. They are performing very well. We should have to boost there moral rather then blaming them so that they will come strongly in the up coming games.... Chak de India..... Whatever may be the result of the previous or upcoming matches we love you.Go and try your best.

What India got to do...
by C W on Feb 28, 2011 05:39 PM  | Hide replies

Remove Piyush, include Ashwin
Remove Gambhir (who can only bat), include Raina (who can bowl and field brilliantly)

So that the team looks like this:
1.Sachin (batting and bowling)
2.Sehwag (batting and bowling)
3.Kohli (batting and bowling)
4.Yuvraj (batting and bowling)
5.Raina (batting and bowling)
6.Yusuf (batting and bowling)
7.Dhoni (batting and keeping)
8.Harbhajan (bowling)
9.Ashwin (bowling)
10.Zaheer (bowling)
11.Munaf (bowling)

India is blessed with 6 part time bowlers in the above team. Why not utilize variations of all these men when main line bowlers don't get wicket for long !?

I don't think Piyush is a good choice given that he cannot bowl anything other than flighting the balls. The 2 consecutive sixes was the turning point to England's survival.

Look India need not do anything out of the ordinary - just put the basics right - We have the talent, experience and the will to beat all in the business, but as mentioned put the basics right - After putting up such a big score I think we relaxed a bit too long to bring the fielders into the circle to stop singles which came at will for the englishmen - we could not stop the singles/twos or the boundaries - 9 indian fielders were not spotted anywhere the ball was travelling - it was only during the batting power play Dhoni got the men in ( forced to get in as only 3 fielders are allowed out side the circle. This for me was the blunder of yesterdays match - As a true lover of our nation and the game hope that our team consider every run taken or given close as their lives. The team balance looks good and flexible, but a change in to bring R.Ashwin in place of Piyush Chawla is not bad. We have less time to click to the best team balance - Best if done immediately before the knockout stages. Come on India.

My question to Dhoni..why did you open the bowling with Sreesanth against Bangladesh, knowing very well that he is a one change and not an attacking bowler with the new ball..something really amiss..Dhoni seems to play games outside the actual game
