India's chances of winning is gone !
by Ian Chappell on Feb 28, 2011 08:14 AM

Mates yesterdays Dhoni's captaincy was very ordinary. The pitch was easy and he should have concentrated on stopping 2's and 1's rather then 4's and 6's. If he tighten up the noose even after 15 overs and didn't allow easy singles and twos then the game would have been in India's favor before 35 overs because by then England would have lost most of their batters !
They tie the match just because of stupidity of English Batsman !
India's world cup chances really looking dull now because no one was betting on England and every one know their batting is not that strong but despite that they barely missed giving Indian's HART BREAK...its not India's victory it just that they saved their face somehow !
The match was gone, accept it !! Its just that Zaheer khan produced a magical spell otherwise......you know!

Advice to team India
by vikadakavi on Feb 28, 2011 07:52 AM  | Hide replies

There is no use crying over spilt milk.

But Dhoni, his team members and coach have to realise one thing: Batting is their strength currently, so everything has to be done to take maximum advantage of the form and ability of the batsmen in the most professional way possible in this WC matches remaining. There is of course need to improve fielding and bowling, but let the team management and players focus on "what is" rather than "what should be".

I thought that India lost the chance of winning yesterday's match against England, by failing to put up a few more runs on the board, having chosen to bat first on winning the toss. Though it would have been preferable for either Yuvraj or Dhoni to stay till the end, atleast the later batsmen should have tried to play little more sensibly.

In particular, Yusuf Pathan and Virat Kohli should have played till the end. One suspects that Pathan is going to prove even more unreliable than Sehwag and even less useful than what he is thought to be capable of. Heavens will not fall if Dhoni decides to bring in Raina and drop Pathan for the remaining matches.

Towards the end, even the well experienced Zaheer approached his batting task in a funny manner, though I wouldn't like to dwell on it much, he being a bowler basically.

My advice to the team is: Use your batting potential far more sensibly in the future for better results.

Bull_shit comment about Pathan. India managed that score only because of his short cameo at the end. Otherwise we would have settled for 320.

He scored 14 off 7 balls from pacers. If he had faced spin, he would have scored a 50. Only Dhoni is to blame for not sending Pathan at 2 down when India were well set and spinners were bowling.

That ass_hole Dhoni did not let even in form batsman Kohli to play at 2 down. Instead he wanted to get batting practice and 50's for hinmself and Yuvraj.

I was hoping that Yuvraj would get out. Stu_pid fellow really, playing slowly for his 50. You have to see that batting. If he was playing gully cricket, he would have got a slap on the face for that attitude!~

it was dhoni failure that india didn't win matches.

how can you lower down 2nd best one day batsman and man in best form virat who has ability to score run a ball and 20 over remaining when gambir was out?

dhoni didn't use his batting yesterday. he could come in the same order and india would have scored 350-5.. we would not have lost the all wickets for hitting. dhoni just wasted his batting power

2. i haven't watched second part but seems like indian allowed the partnership to grow and took match for granted that eng cant reach 300. they didn't change the bowler to frequent or experimented with other bowler like shewag.

i can't comments about fielding.. probably it must be worse

There is plenty of cricket left -- no need to panic ---
by Nikhil Shah on Feb 28, 2011 06:38 AM

The 280 runs against BLD and the 338 against England has been a caused of major concern. The Indian bowling still has not found the right combination yet, but 4 bowlers or five, the problem is Ashish Nehra's injury and not the Fifth bowler or Chawla.

This maybe an issue in the later stages but right now
they still have to play against the minows and we should not be too concerned about the options with Sreesanth, Nehra and Chawla.

I would say wait till Nehra is 100% ready and in the meanwhile before the semi and quarters let us juggle with Chawla and Sreesanth.

Yusuf is something that India will get if our batting is struggling in a chase and when the top-order cannot fire. He can turn the match around from a seemingly hopeless situation but a fifth bowler cannot do what Yusuf can do.

The combination of Zaheer, Nehra and Munaf is the best combination since Srinath, Zaheer and Nehra since the 93 WC. Munaf has been a revelation and got a lot of help in SA, but the three combined can but a serious dent early when India's is defending.

Chawla is still young and maybe against the minnows for the next few games Sreesanth can be a better back up before Nehra recovers. The attack is too spin centric with Chawla, Harby and the part-timers.

We play SA until March 12 and enough time for Nehra to recover, until then Sreesanth is a good option with Yusuf still in and going with 3 seamers

spirit of the game
by RAJ sharma on Feb 28, 2011 06:14 AM

one plays to win or lose or sometimes 'tie',sport teaches us to be sporting enough to accept a result,we tend to get too emotional in loss(or tie) and our prespective about the sport takes completely outrageous meaning or assumptions from the result of "a match/game".Anyhow, all iz well, one win and we will start singing "chakde India...".

India has to use three fast bowlers
by Indian on Feb 28, 2011 04:45 AM

There should be three Fast bowlers. the fast bowlers tend to do touch better job then spinners on flat pitches. And we show today. Also, bowling spinners at the death is a disaster as Chawla gave couple sixes to tailenders..

Ridiculous UDRS cost India the match!
by sandeep kumar on Feb 28, 2011 04:40 AM  | Hide replies

Without a shadow of a doubt, the ball to Ian Bell was hitting the stumps. If an umpire make a mistake, we can understand, but in super slomo these clowns couldnt get that one right? Other than straus, bell was the only one who played for them, and had he been given India would have wrapped up the match soon. Now we know why BCCI rightly dosent trust UDRS. High time the ICC has some competent guys at the helm of UDRS ruling, not some no-name English or Aussie guy to judge. I was at the stadium, and people were rightly cursing when they saw the slow mo on the giant screen.

Sandeep Kumar:

;-)... Go on... just like Sydney 2008, let's start inventing excuses for our "fantastic" bowling (in Sydney it was our "batting" in the final over of the match incidentally)...

But we shall NEVER attempt to do something about OUR game...
So the verdict this time is - "England are Cheaters".. Strauss can only win with Bucknor (oops..) UDRS on his side... blah blah blah... :)

Pseudo:

Really, pseudo i wonder what type of you are and how did you become what you have became. that for you, always, without fail, ANYTHNG that WE DO is ALWAYS WRONG and UNJUSTIFIED. and ANYTHING that OTHERS DO is ALWAYS CORRECT and ABOVE REPROACH. ...:)

Can you shed a little light on this? When did you become this type of person who always says that he is always wrong no matter what, and the other person is always correct, no matter what? I have never come across this type of person ever before in my life ...:)

You are certainly the first and probably also the last person of this type that i will ever come across. i wonder how you have accepted the philosophy you have, that says one is always wrong whatever happens and the other person is always correct no matter what. Did some event in your life made you follow this way of thinking or were always like this? ... :)
