WHAT ANIL KUMBLE MUST DO
by VAIDYANATHAN BALAKRISHNAN on Feb 27, 2011 09:30 AM  | Hide replies

As the office bearer of the Karnataka Cricket board is first explain the TICKET FIASCO, and why the cricket fans were lathi charged by the Police?

He need not preach the INDIAN TEAM now. DHONI and his team are very well aware of the situation and they will take proper control when the time comes.

The TICKET FIASCO and the lathi charge of the Police on the innocent cricket fans are never to be ignored. He can try to deviate public attention but this is still fresh in the minds of the public.

ANIL KUMBLE AND JAVAGAL SRINATH both were very rude and have still not given their explanation on this issue.

If they cannot be a responsible office bearer then they must QUIT.

SEHWAG IS YES, THE TIGER OF INDIAN CRICKET. NEITHER SACHIN IS RELIABLE. ALL TEH MATCHES WON BECAUSE OF SEHWAG, THERE IS NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.
THE TICKET IS VERY CLEARLY MENTIONED OPENLY TO THE WORLD HOW MUCH FOR FANS AND REST TO WHOM. NO DOUBT ULIKE OTHER CITIES EVEN TEST MATCHES ARE FULL IN BANGALORE. PL DO NOT COMPARE OTHER CITIES

KUMBLE don't preach Dhoni.
by babu on Feb 27, 2011 09:19 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni is the most successfull and intelligent caption India ever have. Dhoni has won T20 WC,IPL3,beat Australia in Australia,Draw series in South Africa as Captin.

Dhoni is a good captain but what if some team mates would not want him to continue anymore??? Apart from that Dhoni has all the ingredients to lead India through to the finals of this world cup The self belief is up but it is an ugly history that the host nation never won the world cup

India are still paper tigers, let them beat england, australia and pakistan in a pressure cooked match... Second rate wicketkeeper and flat track bully Dhoni will be exposed then

India needs a performing inspirational captain, instead of a brand ambassador for rich companies. Look at Afridi who is leading from front a dissipated team heavily affected by international bans. I dont remember the last time MS played a pivotal role in a bad situation. Rather he convincingly displayed his lack of technique and impatience in tight situations. He is pretty successful in T20 format, but not as much in ODIs where you need more technique and calculation. If he were so cool the team would have benefited more from him in these tight situations. Undoubtedly India put up some commendable fighting performances under his captaincy, and he has done quite well keeping the team together. But this unit is not as lion-like as Aus under the great S Waugh. He definitely has a cool persona which helps his reputation as a good captain, but there is need for a more inspirational leader. Let us face the truth - India needs a better player as a captain to reach its true potential. Kumble is a level-headed guy, and his reading of the game cannot be inferior to MS Dhoni.

India Vs England
by French Cuisine on Feb 27, 2011 09:18 AM

India is favorites for this game, although cricket is very unpredictable. India has to underperform if England goes on to win. India's batting is the main strength and when it fails India loses. English bowling does not look scary enough with what Ned did in the last game, otherwise they were just hiding the preparation in the last match. India should just bat England out of this match. I like Kumble's comments on the psychological aspects of the game.

keep on winning
by Pranab Pal on Feb 27, 2011 08:50 AM  | Hide replies

I am confident that India will win today. My faith in the team has vastly improved after its great performance in SA in SA under unfamiliar conditions. We will only confine to the basics by bowling at right spots and not to experiment much. We donot need to advise our batsmen, they are the best.

However, I wish the match could be held in Kolkata in front of the vociforous 90000 strong home crowd. But Bangalore crowd is equally great and will support the home team with same passion and vigour.

My best wishes for a great win.

Kumble's articles
by SUBRAMANIAN RAMAKRISHNAN on Feb 27, 2011 08:50 AM

In sharp contrast to some other former cricketers(examples include that archclown Srikkanth whose columns were atrocious) Kumble's writing is eminently sensible and analytically incisive. Cliches like "bowl in the right areas", "try not to lose wickets" are cheap. What is expected from seasoned former players is insight. Hope Kumble keeps on writing.

Be prepared

for rain. Contrary to what has been said (Theres no point getting into "if-we-win-the-toss" debate) I would suggest that we strategise based on both scenarios and considering that it is most likely to rain today evening. If India bats first they should look at the match as a 20-20 or a 40-40 depending on the weather at that point. If India fields first then we should set very defensive field settings and reduce the runs. In the second innings MSD should have a DL Calculator ready and play accordingly.

Lookout for a washout.

Mars is in 2nd position and Juipter is in the ninth position for him today. This is a bad phase for him which will continue till 2nd April.Astrologically,he will not do well in his last WC. However,he has a very good phase starting from IPL 2011.

Dhoni is Master
by Mahi on Feb 27, 2011 08:43 AM  | Hide replies

Being a Pakistani I am a great Admirer of Dhoni who is a cool headed Captain and believe me there is no other player who fits to this slot when I see the whole Indian team. I am quite sure that England would find it extremely hard to go past India with a victory label. The match would be tough, but if it would be one sided and if England would blow itself up then we would be able to say that there will be no stopping for India..India has all the potential to reach the finals unhurt and undefeated
