World Cup or 8 nation tournament
by Sam on Feb 14, 2011 01:03 PM

Frankly speaking it should be called 8 nation tournament as rest 6 countries are playing for the namesake..after the so called world cup they will vanish and will come back after 4 years, top 4 teams from each group will enter QF...and everyone knows who they are...so better call it a 8 nation tournament...

Cricket vs other sport
by vadlamudi srinivas on Feb 14, 2011 01:02 PM  | Hide replies

Can any great soul compare on the Techniques ....... etc etc to be involved in the Sport prove that it does not exist in Cricket

If countries around the world does not play Cricket, it will not become unpopular unless it is not known to them because Cricket requires good infrastructure, planning etc etc. and more over requires time

Those who say Cricket is not popular just play Cricket with a Ball and bat and see how tempting it is

Try to hit a six if possible with a good pacer pouncing on you.

Rest all get lost if you dont understand or cannot play cricket

No other games provide such thrill and uncertainty over the result for such a longer period of time that Cricket provides;
So much twist and turn can happen in cricket which makes the game so interesting;
I do love football and also Tennis but nerve biting in cricket is more..

one day game on the decline
by ganesha Nayak on Feb 14, 2011 01:01 PM

Popularity of 50 over game is certainly declining due to the advent of 20-20. Mr Roebuck is right in his assessment.

Everybody has every right to post his opinion. Actually yourself do not have any right to ask others to get lost.

why cricket is not popular
by Parasram Desai on Feb 14, 2011 12:08 PM  | Hide replies

Guess why cricket is not popular and has not been accepted in most countries......because cricket is a lazy game.....and people have no time to watch 5 days of utter boredom....even 50 overs or 20 overs match have not been able to increase cricket's popularity in the world ...

have u ever faced 150kmph real leather ball ?
have u ever hit single 90 mtr SIX of atleast fulltoss ball ?
i'm sure u cannot,
if u r good at something, and ppl around u r enjoying it, and others are finding difficult to play, doesn't mean that its not GOOD,
u just blindly follow someone else idea, can't think on own,

Mr.Madhusoodan: We are not talking of good or bad, but whether you can use the words `World Cup' for this Six Nation Cup. It is you who is blindly following the Indian media which earns its money by giving undue coverage to this Six Naiton Game. Just as you have right to enjoy and comment about it, others have the right not to enjoy and give their views and comments also. So be sportive enough to accept the viewpoints of others, especially when those who differ say the truth. If you cannot accept the truth or be sportive about it, then GET LOST!!!

u play one game of cricket. U bat for an over from a fast bowler in leather ball. U play one match in leather ball then u'll know the tiredness and then u'll stop commenting just plainly like this. Every game is tiring physically and mentally, cricket is a really tiring game when u play leather ball for an entire day. The bowlers will have so much of arm and shoulder issues even after just one game. It takes minimum 2 days for an international cricketer to recover completely after a game.

Dont say or push your comments basing on some random thoughts forced by somebody who does not know the techniques and the playful nature of Cricket.

If Cricket is not a sport then everybody else is not a sport, because Cricket has so much technique, longevity, sporty etc. etc.

Cricket is much more interesting game than football, hockey or even chess, because it needs mind and power both, and those countries are unable to adopt this game.

cricket can never match football !!!!!
by Parasram Desai on Feb 14, 2011 11:53 AM  | Hide replies

i guess Vasudevan is correct in saying that the media hype about ICC World cup and the 5 so called associate members . ICC is never serious about promoting cricket in other countries and would like to have within the sub- continent with India calling the shots. It is a pity India can never claim to be a sporting nation with cricket grabing the media glare. FIFA with 208 members always strives to spread the popularity of football in the countries where football is not so popular and no wonder it is the sport of the world !!!!
Let me share an information : ICC tried its best to include cricket in 2012 Olympics in London may be because Cricket is so closely related with England ( though the popularity has gone down ). But International Olympic committee bluntly told ICC that unless 20 countries seriously play cricket with local infrastructure there is no chance of cricket ever becoming an Olympic sport. So ICC instead of holding a tamasha in the name of World cup cricket should concentrate in promoting cricket in other countries specially the Commonwealth countries who were once British colonies. Out of 70 odd commonwealth countries 55 countries never play cricket.
And let me say once again when China , Russia or atleast 30 countries play cricket seriously India will never be in the top 20 countries in ICC Ranking .
Cricket is no longer the No 1 sport in West Indies, England ,Australia ,and it is a shame India claims no 1 when hardly 6 countries play serious cricket

what is your problem ? I did not understand ?
Movies are not there in 98% countries so you want people to stop watching movies..?? People dont compare their likes and dislikes with rest of the world - calculate the interest - weigh them and then like them (This is passion . It will not follow this business minded approach) . You seem to be confused.
