If Sachin doesnt play the WC, than we have 100% chance of winning it. It is proved from yesterdays match, where we pulled out victory from the mouth of defeat.

Aussie public not bothered!!
by a a on Feb 14, 2011 05:10 AM  | Hide replies

The level of interest in cricket in Australia can be gauged just by reading any Aussie newspaper and news website. There is mention but nowhere the hystronics that cricket generates in India. Most of the dailies had Rugby and Aussie rules football news in their sports headlines. These are more important sports in Australia than cricket. Cricket is one of the 2nd tier games along with now tennis, soccer even though tey are better than India in even these 2 sports. TThe 1st tier sports are Rugby, aussie footy and swimming. So we should not pat our backs so much at a win brought about by poor Aussie batting rather than great bowling. 2.2 crore people in Australia excel in somany sports. We 120 crore people should learn something from them.

AA ..you are making riduculous comments. Aussies are sore losers. When their side is winning they love cricket more than Rugby. When not winning.. cricket is a secondary sport. Come on..
Rugby (ARU, NRL) is played mostly in Australia by the Islander mostly from Fiji, Tonga and Samoa.
Most English Aussies are inclined towards AFL, Soccer and mostly cricket. Cricket is the most prestigous sport in Australia and it will remain so. In Australia the Australian cricket test captain is probably the next most popular man to the PM. Even more so if the Ashes are won. Don Bradman was also featured in their citizenship questions not Ian thorpe or Gary Ablett from your AFL.
If you still don't know about summer and winter games in Australia better do some research before comparing chalk with cheese.
Swimming is an olympic sport in Australia and is compared similar to what Saina Nehwal or Abhinav Bindra does for the country.

Don't get too impressed with any country. The moment you try to show that you are more loyal to your adopted country than the mother country things start falling apart. You still don't know what these 120 crore people are capable of. The world is just seein the beginnings of India and very soon India will be a global power along with China. More better than China because we are not communists and basically nice people at heart.
BTW the headlines of Australian papers was certainly speaking about yesterdays loss even though it was a warm up match.

AL:

Well said.... Aussies too are mad for Cricket as rightly pointed out by you... ;-)

One correction though. They don't play ANY other sport at all. No Rugby, no AFL, no Soccer and nothing else but cricket.
Proof? Don Bradman was featured in their citizenship questions - not Ian Thorpe, not Stephanie Rice, not Lance Armstrong, and not Benjy Marshall... :)

In USA, they don't play cricket (there is no first class cricket). USA is a bigger and better country than Australia. It does not mean we stop playing or watching our cricket and stop enjoying ourselves.

Btw, what sport do you play, Sir?

About Dhoni and India chances of winning the World CUP
by binu push on Feb 14, 2011 04:55 AM  | Hide replies

If India wants to win the world cup, I strongly feel Dhoni should come down the order. Really fed up with this guy, some times coming one down, before Yuvi and so on..He will upset the rhythm of other batmen like Suresh Raina( Almost destoyed Raina career), and final. Yuvi's as well. If Dhoni swtich batting order , then its very difficult for India to progress beyond quarter. if this guy come after Pathan, then India really has a chance not only to progress but also to win the world cup. I feel this guy is a bit selfish with regards to batting is concern. I agree , he is a good captain.

100% true... But one addendum... Lifting the WC will become 50% much easier if Dhoni had 11 full players under his command, by becoming the non-playing captain... :)

Great bowling by Nehra and Munaf!
by sam puzhakkal on Feb 14, 2011 04:45 AM  | Hide replies

Now I understand why the anti Sreesanth crowd on these boards were criticizing Sree.

Nehra and Munaf bowled so well. Nehra gave away 6 runs per over. Munaf gave away 11 per over. Neither got any wicket.

Sreesanth in comparison was so bad. Took one wicket and gave 4.2 runs per over

Dropping Srisanth was nothing short of madness. Fortunately, Prvin Kumar got injured. Indian team would have been better served if Nehra had got injured because he is going to be a drag any way. Similarly, I wish someone, say Yuvraj makes way for Saurabh Tiwari.

The problem with the Indian Team
by SX on Feb 14, 2011 02:44 AM  | Hide replies

Tendulkar - Maestro - Absolute key for success - injury worries

Sehwag - Highly unpredictable but successful most of the times

Gambhir - Sheet Anchor - Injury worries

Kohli - Depedable youngster with a good commitment

Yuvraj - In the worst form of his life - Useful bowler

Dhoni - In the worst batting form in ODI

Pathan - Highest risk taker - reason good enough for inconsistency - Useful bowler

Chawla - A man nowhere in picture, came out a of blue - Consistency = Asking too much from him

Zaheer - In Great form and the bowling hope for success - Injury worries

Munaf - In Great form, but Consistency - very doubtful in Indian Conditions

Nehra - Out of form - Injury worries

Ashwin - No enough oppurtnities - difficult to perform straight away when asked for

Harbhajan - Not a very useful frontline bowler, not a wicket taker in ODIs

Sreesanth - Half Crack - Very inconsistent and uncontrolled bowling

Raina - Out of form - Vulnerability in playing against Quality Pace attack

Hence I fear our World Cup Chance.....
