what chappell has revealed known earlier
by vilas apte on Feb 04, 2011 05:31 PM  | Hide replies

what chappell has revealed in his book was known earlier too.tendulkar wanted to open the innings specially against bangladesh & bermuda both weak teams so that he could start WC 2007 with a flourish(centuries).chappell wanted a right-left combination as openers, thus sehwag & ganguly opened. infact what is not known was sachin was mainly instrumental in getting chappell as india's coach, & both had a good relationship till late 2006. sachin had sided with chappel & dravid against ganguly in the ganguly-chappell feud.

Anyone world cup
by tamil troublers on Feb 04, 2011 05:07 PM

Everyone saying India is favourite, Dhoni if you remember... in 1996 world cup in india, we had a very similar format. If you remember, from 1999 to 2007, there was super 6 and super 8... so some good teams got eliminated...

In 1996, we had quarter finalist team. Ind, Eng, SA, West Indies, Pak, Sri Lanka, Aus, NZ... all top 8 teams... this time it would be no different since good team will get chances even if they loose some early matches...so we assume the 8 teams in quarter final will be same as it was in 1996. Also few quarter final and semi final matches are played in sri lanka and history suggest it is difficult to chase in dambula and sri lanka

Also everyone saying india being favourites, but india's bowling is still a concern, we dont have allrounder and world class fast bowler

So knockout round begins from quarter final where it can be anyones world cup.. dont be overoptimistic. This time world cup is played under lights and chasing in second innings sometime can be risky in lights, so there is no favourite and underdogs... just have to play 3 game well quarter final, semi final and final to win world cup.. it can be anyones worldcup... as format is for everyone. this time the format requires any team to play well in 3 games to win world cup... 1) quarter final, 2) sem)final 3) final

The Cunning Aussies
by rajashi ghosh on Feb 04, 2011 04:46 PM  | Hide replies

Aussies are extremely cunning and this can be judged from how successfully they have infiltrated into the IPL. The coaches are Aussies, most of the players are aussies and it's only a matter of time before they completely take over the IPL. Thought it's named as Indian Premier League, but unofficially it's the Australian Premier League.

Boss, you are the one who's talking utter nonsense. This is Indian Premier League but it's the Aussies who are calling the shots. The point I am trying to make is that the Australian coaches who are well-acquainted with some of their local players are lobbying for their selection. Geoff Marsh who apparently is one of the coaches, paved the way for his son to be selected. Daniel Christian who is unheard of here in India was one of the biggest beneficiaries thanks to one of the Australian coaches. During the auction, there was hardly any mention of the domestic talents. It was more centered around some of the domestic Australian players and BTW, Australian cricket has been on a rapid decline and they are no longer the undisputed champions. So, stop singing their praises, you slave.

Chappell and his hypocrisy
by vishal jinani on Feb 04, 2011 04:35 PM  | Hide replies

Chappell had just come to India to RUIN the team. Because of him we has diff among the BIG 3 in the Indian team( saurav, sachin and dravid). He knew in the 2007 Australia had threat only from INDIA to win the cup and than he started his politics there was for necessary to make sachin bat at 4 as he was very good at opening but he wanted to play the game. At these things we Indians are very good and we trusted this IDIOT who ruined the Indian team and because of this guy ganguly has to resign. Truly he is an hypocrite.

How can this guy be compared as a great. He used to play cricket against a team which comprised of Royals, bureuocrats and white elites. There wasnt any decent cricketer in that era.

Greg chappell destroyed Pathans and Munafs career!
by sandeep kumar on Feb 04, 2011 03:48 PM  | Hide replies

Pathan had the world at his feet in 2004 end, winning 2 ICC awards. Look at his sad position now! He used to swing at 140kph, and good hitter down the order.Chappell tried to make him a batting allrounder by sending him at no3, and reducing the pace. Now he is neither, and seems lost to indian cricket! ANd Munaf started out as 145 , but chappell wanted line and length. Now he bowls 125 around, and hardly any swing. And who is chappell to tell wehre sachin bats? Sachin has infinite more runs than chappell and he is a legend. And he also kept ganguly out of the team for a year. And ganguly came back in style. This man almost destroyed indian cricket, and thank god he has cut all links with india

What sachin did was very much correct as far as any sportsman would have did and also he did because he was rose to that portion only as an opener. It is not only sports even in corporate sector nobody will be willing to work as lesser than their designation same as Sachin. Why Greg was reluctant to convince Sehwag and moreover he is junior compare to sachin. This Aussies wants to demoralize the player at each and every time. And I wonder why he has to open his ugly mouth before the world cup starting. Better you be stay there and dont ever dare to come here and face the rotten eggs from our people
