Had the seniors not played well in this match rest assured ponting and hussey would have been dropped. in aus it is the seniors who face pressure and rightly so, they need to guide others how to play in difficult situations etc. thats what their job is.But here virat and rohit are competing with each other. instead they should be competing against some oldie who are liabilities on field.
Ganguly said, at the end of second days' play, that Hilfenhaus should not jave been selected. Rather a left hand seamer would have been more useful. He reasoned out that Siddle and Hilfy are similar and you need only one. Now, with the benefit of hindisght, he is cleevrly manipulating the words again.

Sourav Ganguly is the best Captain we ever had in terms of winning test matches(21). He teaches how to win test abroad and holds highest test winning record as a captain in India. As a batsman he holds 11000 runs in one day with 22 century and 7000 runs with 16 century in test , both at an avg. above 41. He had the highest record of hitting sixes then and still in 4 th position in the world. In WC career in total run he was after Sachin with 4 century and no other Indian scored above 1000 runs. In one WC in total run also he was the second after Sachin in India. His 183 runs in WC against SRL was a legend and with a record partnership in WC. His 183 againt SRL was the second highest ever in WC and highest in India. He hold the most century record in one WC. He was 6 times MOM in test. In 1997 he was the highest run scorer in ODI in India. Everybody who have some knowledge in CKT and all experts agreed that. He brought killer instinct in captaincy in India and today India is getting benefit of that. Before his captaincy India used to made spinning tracks in India and loosing abroad. Also Indian team was selected by choosing provincial players as selectors own choice and after his captaincy players from different parts of India started getting chances. He leave his opening position which was proved one of the best opening partnership with Sachin (26 century partnership)in one day CKT after Greenidge and Heynes of WI and gave chance to Sehwag to open. He was one of the rare who score a century and take 4 WKTS in one ODI.How many captain will do that ? Ganguly was also awarded with Padma Shri in 2004 for his magnanimous contribution to the world of cricket also he was awarded Arjuna award..
Also it should be in mind that every player have some weakness and drawback as a human and has some failure and also success. So, above statistics may not be accepted by a Sourav hater but who cares if all CKT pundits recognized a particular cricketer. His records and achievements will be for ever and he will be in heart of CKT lovers of India and world.

Thanks Mr. pakhal for a perfect statistics. Those who criticize Sourav knows nothing about cricket while cricket duniya adore his valuable comment. What he said is perfectly sensible. It is funny that some people think he who played so many cricket and in touch with this game since long and a successful captain knows nothing and what he said is baseless and they knows everything. Bunch of idiots.
I do not understand why we make such hue and cry when Ganguly comments on any subject.We can not deny that under his leadership India won against Steve Waughs strong team in Australia.Let us go in deep of his comments.Yes, Dhoni removed him from the team just before triangular series in last tour. Perhaps Dhoni did not go deep in the subject what he should now.
I am a big fan of Ganguly but I dont see the point in the article. Is he saying that Clarke acknowledges his seniors but Dhoni does not? I think Dhoni does too. I think I am missing the point here somehow.

dont compare it with ind team. ganguly is comparing clark with ausi teams of previous eras only. when kim hughes was shown the door when border took over as captain. when taylor was made capt. when taylor was shown door during waugh's captaincy. ponitng is the one who has now played under new capt clark.

sakti, perhaps u do not know that this old ganguly saved bengal from Ranji trophy relegation by scoring a spectacular hundread and in the next match a str0ng and quick 69 runs which saved bengal from relegation and promoted to the chance of a birth of championship. But bengal narrowly missed the chance. SO NEVER TAKE GANGULY LIGHTLY.

Sourav ganguly doesn't represent the entire Bengali community nor west bengal. every individual has his own views; it's better not to curse the entire community for that.
