sakti, perhaps u do not know that this old ganguly saved bengal from Ranji trophy relegation by scoring a spectacular hundread and in the next match a str0ng and quick 69 runs which saved bengal from relegation and promoted to the chance of a birth of championship. But bengal narrowly missed the chance. SO NEVER TAKE GANGULY LIGHTLY.

Sourav ganguly doesn't represent the entire Bengali community nor west bengal. every individual has his own views; it's better not to curse the entire community for that.

Virat Kohli has scored a century and made India win the first test. He is the MoM. Rohit Sharma will be Man of the Series!!!!
In recent times, all have been discussing the future of Indian cricket once the Big 3 leaves the scene. Youth and exuberance are good when playing in familiar conditions against ordinary sides. But, in recent times almost all non-subcontinent teams have developed a battery of high quality fast bowlers. Steyn, Morkel and now Philander for SA; Anderson, Broad, Bresnan etc. for England; and now the Australians have the likes of Pattinson, Cummins, Siddle, Starc and don't know who all else..!! In these circumstances only those who have played such high quality pace bowling before are better equipped to cope. The likes of Ponting, Sachin, Laxman and Dravid grew up facing bowlers like Akram, Waqar, Akthar, Donald, Pollock, Bond, McGrath, Lee, Gillespie, Gough, Flintoff etc... That experience helps them.

Junior: we have seen how much that experience helped. Not once India could win a series in Australia. Also we saw how much that experience helped in England, to lose 4-0. So ur theory just fails. I feel as long as India cannot produce genuine pace bowlers who will be feared by the opposition and at least one good all rounder, India will always struggle away from home. We r at best flat track bullies.

@ Indian: I am talking about individual performances of India's Big 3 outside the subcontinent. Barring Laxman recently, all of then have done exceptionally well. Dravid scored consecutive centuries in England. Sachin had 3 half centuries and Laxman too got decent starts but failing to convert them into substantial scores.

@Junior: unfortunately cricket is not about individual performances. If it were to be then all these years when sachin used to score heavily and rest of players made about turns, India should have won all the matches. But fact is otherwise. All 11 players need to perform and unless and until that does not happen no team can win, based on 1 or 2 heroes.

"So youngsters DO need to perform" - is your message. Right? Accepted!!!

@ Indian: My dear friend, I was just stressing the importance of experience and the importance of experienced players. I would not like to differ from you on the fact that Cricket is a team sport.

Junior Shelly - why is your message so long. By the time one reads 2 lines, the page refreshes. Please be brief and concise.

Just add the experience of Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman. How much experience does Ganguly need. Is he talking of including Gavaskar or perhaps himself for that matter. Just talking rubbish for selling himself. Let him go home and start concentrating on training cricketers from Bengal and India. Cricket has given him a lot. He should give in return something. This is true for all money hungry ex-cricekters.

had saurav the courage or do u remember him playing the innings which MSD played during the WC final bailing India out & winning?

Adolf hitler: u think the wc win was for real???? can u imagine sachin being given 4-5 lives in the match against pak??? r pak fielders so bad???
Re: Re: saurav
by raj iyer on Dec 30, 2011 12:04 PM
i just said saurav is right..and not asked anyone to hand him captaincy. Saurav is 200 times more capable and talented than dhoni. and dont read much into WC win...it was fixed..everyone knows.

Similarly Chappell gave unbiased opinion about Ganguly. But that was not palatable to Ganguly and all bongs.

Yea people like u can sell urself to any Firang even if they abuse ur fellow team mates..thtz called slave mentality..Even Little Master Tendulkar hated Greg..
Re: Re: Re: I like

And all bongs in Eden Gardens can become anti India just because Saurav was not selected. Anti national chaps. don't talk about patriotism to me.
Re: Re: I like
by raj iyer on Dec 30, 2011 11:12 AM
then why india crashed out in first round of WC..why others were also against greg..why was he kicked out?
sehwag might have scored a quickfire half century. dravid might have scored a fifty in his own way.otehrs might have contributed here and there..but the only batsman who looked assured was none other than sachin..if any one observed, his combined score in the match was exactly 100 runs..that means, his average is 50 in that match and strike rate was awesome..may be the pressure of the 100th 100 is gone now and hes batting more freely..to clarke and co, get ready for the real battle..
Re: sachin still the key
by Sandipan chakraborty on Dec 30, 2011 10:35 AM
Yeah evryone knws that...and I hope Sachin rocks the show, and provez his gr8ness once again.
now i wonder why players like akram, imran, waqar were branded dangerous by the opposition batsmen..if aus were 27-4 under imran khan, they would have got bundled out within 100 runs..remember the toe crushing yorkers of wasim and waqar..dhoni looks a generous captain.he lost his aggression since the 148 against pak in karachi..
let some aggressive captain take over, i mean, who doesnt digest defeat that easily..
may be groom virat by giving him the vice captain post..
