Does the economist take enough points into consideration? Uncovered wickets, lack of protective gear, lack of ergonomically favorable batting gear, bat, lack of batting friendly restrictions in the game, ICC tweaks on no ball rules, powerplays, fielding restrictions, lack of genuine pace bowlers, drastic reduction in seam, near extinction of swing due to playing conditions and ODI structure of batting belters.

If he is a true economist, he has to take into all these external factors that directly affect the playing variables. Otherwise, its just a sham study made to publish and sell to Indian population with an intention to make money, and make megalomanic Indians feel "rationally" happier about their hero.

Nice try. Not gonna work.

If u observe from 2-3 days, there were not many comments on Rediff cricket forums. As soon as u say "Sachin", 100 people will post against him and 100 people will post FOR him. Rediff is using this tactic to encourage people to use its forum, thats all :)

Gavaskar the best
by guruji on Dec 22, 2011 01:49 PM  | Hide replies

I believe Gavaskar was the best batsmen of any era. He played during an era and against a team which was considered the best ever of all times (the West Indies). He was such a great player both pace as well as spin. Irrespective of the fact that he was considered selfish etc, you cannot find technically a more correct batsmen with an enviable record too

The economist should be sent to mental assylum
by pradeep agarwal on Dec 22, 2011 01:42 PM  | Hide replies

He is in urgent need for his state of mental health.None except number games psychopath can put Tendulkar ahead of Don who averaged 99.9 in an era with uncovered wickets, limited protective bodyguards & back-foot no ball rule.Sachin himself has said on many occasions that it is not proper to compare anyone with Don leave aside him.

Agarwal:

Add to ur list - no professional approach to the game, lack of fielding standards, no technology to give batsmen out, no replays for runout, playing the same attack always, no software to analyze batsmen weakness
