Rohit, Raina, Virat are good on slow Indian pitches. So long as we dont venture into Aus, Eng, NZ, SA we will be fine.
Gambhir isnt the same player anymore after his injury. Sehwag is a sweet timer not technically capable batsman. With age his reflexes will deteriorate & hence in 2 years he will be a fluke like Kapil. In short we need five replacements. So the future looks quite gloomy. Anyone calling for the big three to retire quickly need to pull their heads out of the sand & look around.
I dont see many capable youngsters. Rahane needs to prove himself, Parthiv has had many chances. Jadeja cant handle pressure, Yuvraj is better at being a playboy though he has his moments of brilliance.
People calling for Sachin to retire are just blind of jealousy So guys heres a challenge for you. Name one replacement for each of: Sachin, Rahul, VVS, Gambhir & Sehwag Lets see what you got Truth is tough to handle.

Rahane needs to prove himself - as you said. And Pujara doesn't?

i cant imagine any replacement 4 these three giants in the test cricket..... it wil b a lose not only 4 the Indian cricket but 4 the entire world of cricket.
What a Joke? Are you saying that Virat and Rohit can replace any of the three? No way. I agree that Big 3 will have to retire at some point of time, so these guys will fill in their places, thats it. They can come nowhere close to any of these 3. In particular, Rohit, who is just flash in a pan and just good for couple of matches. How you can even think that these guys would fill in the shoes of Big 3. They will occupy their slots thats it, that too because there arent anyone available right now. Those 3 are in different class altogather, and tendulkar is class apart. Dont make such comparisons. These comparisons are worthless.
Re: How you can make such a comparison (?)
by NashikMarathi on Dec 07, 2011 08:28 AM
People said the same about a young Tendulkar and Gavaskar in 1989. No way can he match the great Sunny. But he did....
People said the same thing about a young Brian Lara after initial success and failure that he could never compare to Viv. But in sheer batting he did - at least in test cricket.
So you never know the future. They could be a dud, someone else could come along ... whatever.

Well Wasim Jaffer cant. He is 33. And if these guys(Big 3) will hand little 2 years, he will be 35 then. A good player got wasted.

Same team as yours but different order in batting. Sehwag should take Sachin's place of No. 4. He had expressed his desier for that spot. And adding Irfan Pathan, hoping he will come good.

Looks like a weak team. But yes we dont have options. Any ways Raina is missing in the list

Are you not taking a risk by including only 4 bowlers? That too only 1 specialist spinner.

Agree with you. I'am suprised with Rohits performance at the moment but lets wait and see at Australia. Even kholi will struggle over there. But some time soon all the 3 r going to retire one after other. Relying on Rohit is stupidity!

It is not the question of whether they can replace the big 3, they should certainly replace as the big 3 cannot play till these youngsters are ready. The method of rotating the senior players should start now and in every match all the three should not play and should be replaced with an youngster so that they have experienced guys in the centre to guide them.It should start in this tour of australia itself even if it ends in a failure as we should concentrate on building the future team for india. These youngsters are really talented and very young so that they can carry the team forward for long.
