series lost
by ranganathan raman on Aug 16, 2011 10:49 AM  | Hide replies

One small advice. Stop playing England atleast at England. Same is the case with SA and Australia also. Have the same guys for another 15 years so that no new blood is allowed and our dependency increases. Play more matches with kenya, bangladesh, east africa etc. Always play good teams at home only. Yes we are no one always

You are so cynical. This is not the way you encourage our cricketers.

Weren't these same people brought us the World Cup after 28 years!?

You can't win every game and series. Let us be realistic in our expectations. Be a sport... not a resigned soul!

While winning and losing is part of every game, we shouldn't miss the manner in which we lost this series. The Indian team, comprising batsmen who every bowler fears, couldn't go past a total of 300 in the 6 innings played so far.

Had they gone down with a fight, there wouldn't have been so much cricism. The experts (and not rediff forum posters) are saying that the performance of bowlers, batsmen and fielders have been very ordinary. Also the series was not planned properly. There is also this point of players getting fatigued due to excessive play and lack of proper trainer and physio in the team. Can you imagine the the Wrold Champions have some Godforsaken Vinayak Sathish as the physio and another Kaushik as the physical trainer. Who on the earth are these two people? Are they N Srinivasan's sons-in-law?

Why the BCCI would agree on so many series in a year? Look at England & Australia, they play only 2 series in a year consistently over the last few years. The players are clearly fatigued and unable to focus on their game to come out on top of the bowlers.

THERE WOULD BE ANOTHER SERIES WHICH WE MIGHT LOSE WHICH WILL NOT MATTER - WHERE IS YOUR NATIONAL PRIDE MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI - JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE MADE AMPLE MONEY, THE LOSING OF A SERIES DOES NOT MATTER TO YOU ?

What's your point anyway?

You mean to say, Indian cricket team can not loose a cricket match at all?

Thank God for you are an Indian... We lost our first place but are on second as of now (may go to 3rd if they loose Oval test too...). On the contrary think, what if you were an Australian... who have slipped to 5th position in no time..!?

Being constructive in your criticism not only encourages Indian cricketers but also helps you have a positive attitude in life and be a popular, successful and an accomplished person!

Work on your mindset..!

Neither the loss of some tests, nor even a series
by Orient Mystique on Aug 16, 2011 10:23 AM  | Hide replies

worries me the least.

I am a fan of good cricket.

I like team India and its current captain Dhoni.

I have nothing but good wishes to the team to spring back to its winning ways.

You have my full and unhesitating support dear Dhoni, because I know:

- You have to battle the opponent team

- You have to battle the unreasonable experts and past players

- You stand the scrutiny of media these days unlike in 1960s, 1970s, 1980s when TV was fledgling

- You have to battle the evil spirit surrounding you in the form of common people and past players who cannot relish and accept your financial gains these days compared to good old days

- Top of it all, you have to put up with a money minded, Shylockish BCCI whose only aim is to ensure its coffers keep growing, with absolutely no scientific approach to the game itself, the welfare of players in a holistic rather than financial sense, and inability to have proper policies and programs for finding, nurturing and giving proper opportunities to new and existing talent

DO NOT WORRY AT ALL, all the guys who are blah blahing now about your losses very critically will start eulogising you sky high once you win a couple of matches.

Disregard money and glamour for a moment.

Is there any instance where this team has actually played high quality cricket consistently on FOREIGN pitches like the Aussies in 90s and early 2000s? Scores on batsmen friendly Indian pitches aside, there are only few like Dravid, SRT, Laxman who have some sort of batting merit, slogging in 20 over matches by the youngsters is easier then test matches in non Indian conditions.

The so much hype of being no 1 is what is irritating when all you have are veterans who are out of form and so called young ones not able to do much on non Indian pitches.

It is ok not to be no 1 but proclaiming as best batting in world or being World Cup winners (on Indian soil that is) and performing like this is sure to attract lot of flak.

For next 4 years, India will remain World Champs. Test matches are useless forms of the game and so these defeats are meaningless. in ODI India is always No 1

You are simply a nonsense oberserver of cricket. Test Match is the best form of this Game which test the skills and temperament of the player. England never give emphasis to one day or worst t20 games. Most of cricket loving people still love test cricket. and for your knowledge we not number 1 in one day as well, its Australia and you can see why they are number 1 in Srilanka. Better you comment on kabaddi.

Because test matchs are of 5 days and if there is world cup for that it will take 2-3 months to complete it. And further to your comment World cups shouldn't be the criteria of judging the teams. India defeated west indies in 1983 and immediatly after world cup Indies thrashed India badly in home series in India. Mere 1-2 matches don't prove that you are world champions. In test matches you have to perform all 5 days in order to win the match and that is why it is best.

Re: Re: Re: Re: India is world Champion

Yes... That reverse thrashing by WI in 1983 is something that cannot be forgotten. Clive Lloyd told in a post match conference after wc that he will tour India and beat them black and blue on all 7 one day mathches as a revenge for WC loss. True to his words the WI won 3 out of 6 test matches and all the 7 one dayers. Indians came down crashing in that series with Srikkanth opening the innings and gaping for the ball. He probably managed a 50 in all the 6 tests put together.

Undoubtedly test cricket will determine the best criceting calibre. One day match victories are mere aberration. If so, its better nothing is said of the T20s.

Naveen and LOL,
I agree with your views and take back my comments. I also remember the 1983 thrashing with Marshall at his blistering best and Haynes/ Greenidge/ Viv Richards plundering runs with the Bat..1983 ODI and test series was truly memorable.

Yes Mr MSD we are not critical that you people lost the series, but we are upset to see how you lost it. Basically you surrendered in front of British like we were in 1857 sepoy mutiny. 0-3 loss in consequitive tests with a huge margine matters MR MSD. Better you realise that you are no match with the current No1 Test team. If you ahve some esteem left , win the last test with an innings margin.

It is not the loss but the magnitude of loss that is worrying
by SMARTY on Aug 16, 2011 10:12 AM  | Hide replies

No team van be expected to win all the time, And that is true for th Indian team also. However, it is not the loss but the manner and magnitude of loss that is worrying. All the three tests were lost on a platter. Our famed batting line up failed to cross 300 mark in any of the test. Third test was lost on the first day itself.
It is right time for proper introspection and to discard non performing load that we are carrying and give chance to fresh young blood. In any case I am sure that with young blood around we cannot lose wit ha bigger margin

whom do you discard sehwag, gambhir, dravid, sachin, laxman, raina, zaheer, bhajji in the first 2 tests, dhoni returned to form in the 3rd test. Do you have even 1 replacement each for the named above.

if players are so concerned about national interest then why they prefer to play in Indian Paisa League. they know in advance about test schedule, then why they played in full IPL season. beside this they also performed in Ad films & stage shows, they are playing only for money. now they are not of any use, throw them out of country with their money.
