one more innings required
by ambi annaswamy on Aug 13, 2011 09:29 PM  | Hide replies

with the match getting over quickly inside four days and 250 runs adrift, ICC should bring a new rule for the beaten team to play one more innings with the defeat being termed 'terrible defeat'

criteria for one more innings for the losing team:
1. minimum 200 runs still required to overhaul after innings defeat.
2. one minimum full day left for a five day test.

(4th line of the article)
It is not "242-run win".
It should be "innings and 242 run win"

Mukund over Sehwag
by Ujwala Kulkarni on Aug 13, 2011 09:22 PM  | Hide replies

A technically sound, gritty, reliable opener like Mukund should have been preferred over the flamboyant Sehwag under the conditions. Of course that would only have decreased the margin of defeat, but overall show would have been better.

Mukund is far from being technically sound. He's got out to rash shots, and those inside edges onto the stumps. Well, you can argue for sehwag too in this test, but still india had to put sehwag in, obviously noone would've ever imagined he would get a king pair!
