Dravid has always been quick
by ACHINTA ROY on Aug 08, 2011 12:28 PM

When he understood that BCCI needs a captain who is also an yesman. He immediately departed. When he understood that the jokers are trying to humiliate him again, he showed them his foot. I am sure he will slap the selectors again by his brilliant performance, if Dhoni includes him in the final eleven in one-dayers in England. There is a possibility that the jokers might ask Dhoni not to include him if he fails in the test matches. But Rahul, the warrior as he always was, won't give them a chance.

Dravid is indeed the perfect sportsman and a true gentleman. He has sacrificed himself so many times for the team that one loses count. He will be forever remembered as the silent achiever. Hats off to you sir!!

BCCI should understand that Indian cricket needs to respect and show confidence on stalwarts like Rahul also. The silent warrior departs in style and on protest. He refuses to be humiliated by a handful of jokers

Kudoos to Dravid right decision to retire with respect
by Suman Bhat on Aug 08, 2011 08:38 AM

Rahul proved many times that he is player of performer par excellence and complete team player
Statistics and his performance speak s for him that Rahul is legend and one of the best among international cricket a very good human being.
He scored runs when team needed badly, opened the innings against best and balanced fast bowling attack on bouncy pithc which is difficult to bat ,in challenging condition, involved in building partnerships, keep the wicket. His performance is an example of dedication concentration, patience, technique.
Dravid proved that player can achieve so much by sheer hard work , discipline, does not need a glamour, media hype or praise from cricket pundits. Many times Dravid was the victim of Indian dirty cricket politics, blamed for the reasons he was not responsible for , did not get the equal amount of credit to which he really deserves.
Still the wall stands tall Loads of cheers Dravid keep up good work

Dravid
by Srinivas on Aug 08, 2011 07:18 AM  | Hide replies

It would have been great if Dravid himself had resigned from ODI and T20 couple of years back. Dravid should realize this is a country of billion and youngsters should be given a thought.

I am a gr8 fan of Dravid, he's far better than many cricketers of out nation. He's committed, he goes into field to give 100 percent everytime.
2007 world cup debacle is totally b'cos of irresponsible playing by 6 players just b'cos thay had difference with Greg. Sachin who is a gr8 player played horribly just to teach a lesson to Greg, he was accompanied by Ganguly, Yuvi, Bhaji, Zaheer, and couple of others.

Over a period of time people will realize Dravid is much better character-ed cricketer than many not just in India but whole world.

Feels gr8 to be walls' fan !

dravid was selected for odis bcuz many batsman including tendulkar failed to failed in batting. Even for sewag gambir it will be difficult to face england fast bowling.
selectors ignored him for WC but now even dhoni raina failed to score good runs dravid was selected.
shame on BCCI and selectors to treat the players in such shabby way. that happened to kumble laxman and even ganguly.

Srinivas, I am not sure of the others, but yes, Ganguly did play the tricks. It is his bad habit of playing politics and his power hungryness, which eventually led this great left handed batsman to perish. If he concentrated only on his game, he could have achieved far more , than what he is today. To me he and Sunil Gavaskar were the greatest ever cricketer politicans India has ever produced.

Dravid's selection to ODI team
by Viswanathan on Aug 08, 2011 04:40 AM  | Hide replies

The selection committee did not pick Dravid to give him a nice farewel from ODIs. Dravid had already given up hopes of playing for India in ODIs and as he made clear in his statement, he was not being considered for ODIs on ordinary pitches. They need his services only in places like England and SA where batting becomes difficult with out proper technique.
I wish him all the best to cross 11,000 runs in ODIs prior to his retirement from this format.

Dhoni has more 150 scores in ODI's...he has a better strike rate and average than dravid....He also scored that memorable 184 against Pakistan and the century in the world cup finals against sri lanka on a very difficult pitch against a dangerous bowling attack when no other Indian batsman was able to score

Sachin got man of series in World cup 2003 even if sachin lost final by giving catch on score of 4 rahul dravid made some efforts to rescue india with sehwag by mental effect of loosing sachin is such that india got all out 234 in reply to ricky 359 so Rahul is man of iron mask of cricket india "The Man in the Iron Mask (French: L'Homme au Masque de Fer) is a name given to a prisoner arrested as Eustache Dauger in 1669, and held in a number of jails, including the Bastille and the Fortress of Pignerol (today Pinerolo). He was held in the custody of the same jailer, Bgne Dauvergne de Saint-Mars, for a period of 34 years. He died on 19 November 1703 under the name of Marchioly, during the reign of Louis XIV of France, 1643-1715. The possible identity of this man has been thoroughly discussed and has been the subject of many books, because no one ever saw his face, which was hidden by a mask of black velvet cloth.published in 1771, the writer and philosopher Voltaire claimed that the prisoner wore an iron mask and was the older, illegitimate brother of Louis XIV. In the late 1840s, the writer Alexandre Dumas elaborated on the theme in the final installment of his Three Musketeers saga: here the prisoner is forced to wear an iron mask and is Louis XIV's twin brother. What actual facts are known about this prisoner are based mainly on correspondence between his jailer and his superiors in Paris." shame that sachin is given too much credit and rahul as son of lesse

The prisoner[edit] Arrest and imprisonmentThe first surviving records of the masked prisoner are from late July 1669, when Louis XIV's minister the Marquis de Louvois sent a letter to Bénigne Dauvergne de Saint-Mars, governor of the prison of Pignerol, then part of France. In his letter, Louvois informed Saint-Mars that a prisoner named Eustache Dauger was due to arrive in the next month or so.

Louvois instructed Saint-Mars to prepare a cell with multiple doors, one closing upon the other, which were to prevent anyone from the outside listening in. Saint-Mars himself was to see Dauger only once a day in order to provide food and whatever else he needed. Dauger was also to be told that if he spoke of anything other than his immediate needs he would be killed, but, according to Louvois, the prisoner should not require much since he was "only a valet".

Historians have noted that the name Eustache Dauger was written in a different handwriting to the rest of the text, suggesting that while a clerk wrote the letter under Louvois's dictation, a third party, very likely the minister himself, added the name afterwards.

The man himself was arrested by Captain Alexandre de Vauroy, garrison commander of Dunkirk, and taken to Pignerol where he arrived in late August. Evidence has been produced to suggest that the arrest was actually made in Calais and that not even the local governor was informed of the event — Vauroy's absence being explained away by him h

The 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup was the eighth ICC Cricket World Cup and was played in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya from 9 February to 24 March. 2003 was the first time that the Cricket World Cup had been held in Africa. The tournament featured 14 teams and 54 matches, the most in the tournament history up to that time. The tournament followed the format introduced in the 1999 ICC Cricket World Cup with the teams divided into 2 groups, and the top three in each group qualifying for the Super Sixes stage. The tournament saw upsets in the first round with South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies and England failing to make it to Super Sixes stage while Zimbabwe and Kenya made it to Super Sixes stage and Kenya, a non-Test playing nation, made the semi-finals of the tournament.

The tournament was won by Australia who defeated India in the final.[1]2007 World Cup: Rahul Dravid led India in one of their worst-ever World Cup campaigns post the 1983-win in England.

What is he doing now?

Out of the ODI picture, Dravid will be soaking up all the World Cup action from the confines of his home in Bangalore.

Why do we miss him?

Rahul Dravid was India's 'Wall' during the 1999 and the 2003 World Cup crusade. His WC average of 61.42 is the best-ever by an Indian batsman in the event.

Best WC moment: It came in 1999 versus Sri Lanka in Taunton. Dravid rattled off 145 runs in 129 balls to take India to an unbeatable total of 373 runs. Even there, his efforts were overshadowed b
