My choice for the 3rd test
by krishna on Aug 05, 2011 11:46 PM  | Hide replies

Gambhir
Sehwag
Dravid
SRT
Laxman
Mukund
Raina
Zaheer
Mishra
Ohja
Sreesanth

Drop Dhoni and play Dravid as the keeper. The captaincy can be given to any of the playing 11 - none of the current 11 can win because of their captaincy

Dropping Dhoni for his batting is not a bad idea. But changing Captain, i dont think its good. btw, I prefer Praveen kumar instead of Ohja.

Mukund is a good player and here to stay
by Indigo Sepoy on Aug 05, 2011 11:44 PM

This guy is just 20 yrs and counting. And in his first international test series in swinging conditions facing the new ball, he has done remarkably well. He is a cool fielder as well.
He needs more chances and time, and he will be a permanent member of the indian test side.
Well done Mukund and keep going.

definitely sehwag will play as he has been the regular opener...but no guarantee that he'll succeed especially if the hosts arrange a similar pitch for the 3rd test...the only right thing dhoni did was winning the toss and inserting the hosts to bat...but u cant win the toss every time either...mukund did score a century in a practice match but he couldnt deliver when it mattered...Selectors shudve included pujara for the series as his technique was very sound...but they have their srange ways of functioning...probably thinking that they cud push their candidates in when the team is no.1 and expected to win so that their failures wont be emphasised.

Pujara needs to wait for his chance in next series. He will get it. Thankfully for once we dont have any junk mumbai based players pushed in by the Kar lobby

the performance by Mukund should be enough for Srikanth to keep him for another 2 series.

india has never been the number one team in reality. in history of cricket, there were only twice any team team came to number one was 1980's West Indies team and early 2000's Australia.
they ruled the cricket world with so much of authenticity that no other team even came close to them.

well, 1970's team of Australia was alos pretty good. they had guys like thomo, Lilly and chappells.

Yes of course. Kris Srikanth selected the world cup winning squad. So he has been India's best selector till date. Mukund is a class player and is here to stay.
Thankfully, Dada put an end to the Kar Mumbai Lobby who used to bring in junk players

Pulitzer and Hearst are often adduced as the cause of the United States' entry into the Spanish-American War due to sensationalist stories or exaggerations of the terrible conditions in Cuba.[17] However, the vast majority of Americans did not live in New York City, and the decision-makers who did live there probably relied more on staid newspapers like the Times, The Sun, or the Post. The most famous example of a claim is the apocryphal story that artist Frederic Remington telegrammed Hearst to tell him all was quiet in Cuba and "There will be no war." Hearst responded "Please remain. You furnish the pictures and I'll furnish the war." Historians now believe that no such telegrams ever were sent.[18]

But Hearst became a war hawk after a rebellion broke out in Cuba in 1895. Stories of Cuban virtue and Spanish brutality soon dominated his front page. While the accounts were of dubious accuracy, the newspaper readers of the 19th century did not expect, or necessarily want, his stories to be pure nonfiction. Historian Michael Robertson has said that "Newspaper reporters and readers of the 1890s were much less concerned with distinguishing among fact-based reporting, opinion and literature."[19]

Pulitzer, though lacking Hearst's resources, kept the story on his front page. The yellow press covered the revolution extensively and often inaccurately, but conditions on Cuba were horrific enough. The island was in a terrible economic depression, and

Technically sound but....
by k prabu on Aug 05, 2011 09:56 PM  | Hide replies

Mukund seems to be tecnically sound with foot work and body language except for few deliveries which he fishes away from body or sometimes scared of bouncers from tall bowlers, but thatz understandable as even veterans including the wall in Rahul these days are getting out those deliveries....basically this guy is missing the aggresiveness. Hope he delivers in the months are years to come....all the best Mukund.

The guy has got out in a similar way in all his innings. He plays at balls he should be leaving. As for Gambhir, he should realize that when the ball is swinging, he can't move about in his customary fashion.

But too late - Sehwag and Gambhir are in and no room for Mukund unless he is kept to bolster middle order in place of Yuvraj and Kohli.
