This "spirit of the game" thing is shee

If a batsman is out as per the rules of the game and so adjudicated by the umpires, he is out. Period.

This spirit of the game thing is nonsense
by anand ganesh on Aug 01, 2011 12:26 PM  | Hide replies

If a batsman is out as per the rules, he is out. MSD has thrown a test away by recalling Bell. Not only that he has opened the floodgates for the racist white spectators of England, Australia, NZ and South Africa to "boo" the Indian teams in future and force Indian captains to withdraw their appeals.

The Bell issue
by Lakshmanan Sridharan on Aug 01, 2011 12:24 PM

Well if the captains decide the issue, the question is what is the role of the umpires. Clearly the Indian captain had no business to reverse the umpires decision. If the spirit of the game is reckoned look at what happened when Dravid in this very test completed the century not many in the crowd very few in the balcony cheered and English Dressing room went into hibernation. Clearly it is not in the spirit of the game to recall/withdraw the appeal for it is the rules of the game that constitutes the spirit of the game

Fact

If there was no tea break, Dhoni would not have had a chance to recall Bell. So rather than talking about what great spirit we play with, let us focus on our performances. Hiding behind this will do Indian team no good.

where was england's spirit of the game
by taklu on Aug 01, 2011 12:19 PM  | Hide replies

..when in broad's hattrick bhajji was given wrongly out lbw as he had a huge inside edge. england should've called bhajji back to bat.

unnecessary gesture by dhoni , he should concentrate on winnings matches and not trying to appease englishmen
