I think the answer is yes. It helps being a professional but it isnt a prerequisite. The (american) football team Patriots from Boston, USA has been very successful under a coach, Bill Bellichick, who hasnt played professionally. He will most likely enter the hall of fame some day.So I am hoping this choice turns out ok for India....

Yes! To Coach at this level means to improve mentle and physical strength, basics, technics, team building, motiviating for hard work, inspiring, co-ordinating, goal setting and achieving etc..

has agreed to give pawar the biggest cut(commission)that is why fletcher has been selected. whereas india's earlier foreign coaches wright, chappell, & kirsten were all established players in their own right, fletcher has never played international test cricket.

Sharad Pawar will get his share from him. What else he wants. Cricketers are smart and they will play well and win the match. Please tell me one things that Sachin needs any coaching now

Are you Idiot? Do you know the meaning of Cricket Coaching? Is there only Sachin in the Team? Coaching means to improve so many technical and basic things like Running between the wickets, fielding (mosf of the Indians are poor in both deptt.), bowling skill, batting skill, mental focus, planning, team building, communication, strength etc..

Then you are equally idiot if you say that Gary is good coach. Because India's fielding and running between the wickets is pathetic and he did nothing. Would you agree?

No, I am not agree with such Idiotic comments like you... As because, Gary did lot of work to improve fielding and running, thats why our young players are better now in both the deptt. But you can't do much for the aged players, still they have improved under his coaching... He has changed Indians mentality that any match can be won by great fielding or catching, not only because of batting or bowling!

What is Sharad Pawar's record regarding running BCCI...not sure how his experience of hoarding land in Pune ? If that appointment is possible anything is possible..but in this case I think this choice wont be that bad.
