An unreasonably pessimistic article

I think we should savour the moment as long as it lasts. A World Cup comes once in 4 years. India has now won it for the 2nd time which no other country except Australia and WI have done. SA and England can only dream of winning it, with the former having some realistic chance. But it's not easy and it needs a lot of luck. India has been the No. 1 Test team for a couple of years now and that's a huge achievement. And for the next 2 years at least, they look set to be there at the top. And who knows we might actually unearth a couple of quality pacers or might even see a renaissance of Ishant Sharma (he seems to have got back his pace and venom, at least from the little I have seen him in IPL 2011 thus far)...so let's sit back and enjoy the Indian Victory march as long as it lasts. In any case, even if they lose a few ODI series here and there, it doesn't matter...they'll have the bragging rights as the Champions for the next 4 years. And even if they don't win in 2015 (they have as much chance as SA, Aus or a couple of other big teams, though if not more), then also they will continue to be a top team. What is more significant is that they are going to be the No. 1 team in all likelihood for at least 2 years from now and may be much more than that. In an ironical way, the IPL will also encourage a lot of new talent (including pace bowlers) to come to the fore. So, don't worry man...Just sit back and enjoy...

can't remember a sports article of late even half of this one which discussed any other indian sport ..
i love cricket as much as any other indian fan but the absolute apathy towards other sports n athletes is terrible
it is almost a curse to be born as any other sports person in india other than cricket

Boss, people's interest in sports depends on whether there are grt sportsmen playing the game and who bring laurels to the country. Cricket is able to do so, but see the standard of hockey and football. Once we start producing sportsmen of merit and greatness who win for india, then people's interest would go up and along with it newspapers and other channels would start showing attention. So, no point cribbing about it.
