I am a strong admirer of SRT and I agree he deserves to be given the Bharat Ratna award while comparing with others like Musicians, Scientists who were given the award.
But why so many people making statements now? It looks as if everybody is joining the bandwagon to get publicity for themselves rather than getting the BR award to SRT.

BR should not be given to any one who is linked to commercial activities. Lata was also not eligible. Sachin also does not deserve it

if we go by your view, I am not sure whether anyone would have got this award at all or not. With due respects to all those who got it earlier, I am sure each one would have been linked to commercial activities some whay or the other. Can Mother teresa become an exception in this? I am not sure.
Everybody in the past, be it politicians or musicians or scientisits would have been into commercial activity. So let us not have that as a rule.

1. Test series victories against all Test playing nations.
2. 4 Test series victories against the most dominant team of his time, Australia. That includes 1 Test series when the Aussies were at the peak of their dominance having set a world record of winning 16 odd Test matches in a row.
3. Helped his team become the #1 ranked Test team in ICC Test rankings, and reign there for more than a year (his team still reigning at the #1 spot).
4. ODI series victories against all Test playing nations.
5. A World Cup victory.
Is there any thing more a player can achieve in cricket from a team's perspective?

LOL, did Dhoni feature in Test series victories against all Test playing nations, 4 Test series victory against the most dominant side of the last 20 years, ODI series victory against all Test playing nations? It's obvious whom I'm writing about, isn't it?

I always had praise in my heart for Sachin But people like you want to give credit only to Sachin. Give credit to those also who give 100 percent to win. Its a team game. Sachin alone cant score runs. But Bharat RAtna for Sachin- Its a big no
